hi sau ppl

ive had my r34 for fkn years now and im in the process of getting it re registered (hasnt been regoed for about 4 years now)

it will prob be back on the road in a couple of weeks.

my dilemna is this.

i have been looking for dry carbon parts for fkn ages now and i cant find fkn anything for it

i have had the shiny look carbon and its cool but i want that not shiny finish on it.

i want

bonnet

boot lid

mirrors

r34 gtr high wing stays

r34 gtr wing blade

u would think it would be relatively easy to find but i am unable to do so

can anybody help me

i know its a fair bit pricier than the shiny carbon but whatevs

i would love to hear from you uys about where to look for it

Due to the cost of raw carbon fibre, that's why many places don't do it. Dry carbon bonnets, boot lids etc would be through the roof in terms of production costs not to mention a few hundred thats slapped on for profit margin. If I'm not wrong, all carbon fibre will have a glossy coat on top from the resin. Just that dry carbon is prepreg and that the resin is litterally frozen into the carbon cloth and laid up on a mould where it gets vacuumed and heats up to melt the resin and in the end, leaving a shiny coat.

Also because the structure of bonnets, doors, boot lids etc have a "skeletal" support frame and not just a flat moulded piece, I'd say each of the rails and whatever structure a part has, would have to be moulded and produced individually, then pieced together with the top layer.

I'd say production for these would be once off (in Australia anyways) for those who are building cars for events such as WTAC. Plus they are illegal for street use anyway so theres no real market for them if theres no demand.

The only thing I could get from your list is high wing stands in dry carbon. If your willing to fork out a few grand, I could probably make some arrangements to have your bits made up in dry carbon.

Seibon usa - bend over for the cost and import taxes just jap carry a bit

You can also get a dry carbon roof now for r34

Dry carbon can be had on wet by sanding it back slightly for street use , dry carbon proper is a structural part under heat with minimal epoxy

Wet is slightly heavier but still strong as hell still

Only prob is dry carbon doesnt like UV at all and looks shite quick if not protected

Wet carbon and matte clear it ? save a lot of cash for a "look "

Carbon parts are illegal in crash /crush zones in oz ? In cars that havent gone thru testing cert

ganador mirrors but they arent dry carbon ?

many companies make the stands all in wet

Most companies use a fiberglass inner shell then overlay it in carbon not as light or strong but lots cheaper

The new carbon out will blow your mind at Sema show in vegas this week , place where I buy from has insane weaves etc , just got 50 samples and maybe 10 are old weaves the rest new options and still waiting for at least 10 more !!

The photo i saw of a bmw blew me away with new carbon with silver strand laced in at night the silver looked like a shooting star when lights hit it on black carbon crazy cool look but $$$$

Couldnt see the silver much in daytime

They hit it with blue neon and the car was mad looking

    • The front prop shaft from my GTR had very notchy unis, which obviously needed replacement but unfortunately uses the (usually) non-replaceable (staked) type.     A new shaft is something like $2K plus shipping from Japan.   I wouldn't even bother asking the local Nissan spares dept.     Rang Hardy Spicer but no go, which surprised me a little.     There's a place over Dandenong way that would make me a 'performance' shaft but un-necessary in my situation.   They claimed to be getting the equipment in to replace staked unis but couldn't give me a timeframe.   Anyway, long story short, found a place to do the work just 5 mins from me: https://knoxdriveshafts.com.au $420 (cash) and about a week later I have my driveshaft back.   Price includes balancing. Owner is a one man band working out of a shed in his backyard but from what I could see he's very well setup with some expensive equipment.
    • Thanks. That's what I was after. One of the kits, the o-ring side is too big diameter. The other kit is a plate with a o-ring to seal and the hose connection offset.
    • oops that seems much easier lol.
    • Are you using the factory rail?  Is there any reason you don't want to use one of the two you already have, they don't have to attach to the fuel rail directly.  If you 100% must have a FPR that directly bolts to the fuel rail, you could get a Radium setup. I use a radium fuel rail and the direct mount regulator, it is quite a sexy setup.
