Shit was always going to happen in the car scene, we've all had first hand experience (some tho may yet have not). But recently (depends on how u look at it) a young driver lost his life in the mountains (reportedly) on his way home from dreamworld. I'll include the link but please just read the info there and dont post anything. Just would like to know the thoughts of those here in FC. IMHO, you've gotta admit any loss is a loss and is definitley heart breaking... but this is the very reason that mountain roads are not ment to be trifled with. i'm only saying this from what i've heard and i doubt i'll ever know the true circumstances with regard to the accident but "it has been said" that it was around coomera near dream world in the mountains or somewhere there thus leading to my point that shit can happen to anyone if your not careful. What kind of rammifications do you think may come about due to this and what do you think the public's reaction may be?

Just a thought or two, please no flames....

rammifications = not much since the public already has the opinion that young driver + nice car or import = h00n ;)

public reactions? Doubt there is any change other than there will be alot more sadly misled people that forms the opinion that "young driver + nice car or import = h00n" which is freakin sad. :(

The dude tat past away.. he was a pretty friendly person most of the time.. tho he could do some silly things.. just like most of us.

Personally i think everyones egos are too big untill they get put in their place..

I was, near death accident scared the shit out of me, and now i drive and think totally different on the road.

I missed a pole by about half a metre going 90km/h and slid on grass for ages, took me an hour just to get back in the car.

I feel for the guy, and anyone who dies in a car accident, but especially the passengers. Ide never do something i couldnt control by myself let alone with pasengers.

Although driving is a daily occurance and grants no impact on people, the truth is you control their lives if you have pasengers.

Everyone thinks its hard to die in a car, thats BS, it can happen in an instant, and if you dont die, youll wish you did being paralised etc

thats true gordo, not knowing your limits, the road, conditions and the cars limits all can contribute to things going wrong. Every bit of information you dont recieve/understand increase your odds of something going wrong.

you will never know your cars limits. changes ever few seconds. different tyres temps, to tread wear, to brake fuild condition etc etc.

also knowing the road dont mean nothing :) i knew the corner i crashed on back the front. road conditions change rocks etc nothing is 100% certain in reality.

knore, I understand what you mean. I had the same experience last December, and the car still carries the scare. Although I was lucky it could have been a lot worse. I also drive with a totally different attitude these days. I still go to the mountains for a Cruise and release my "Speed Anger" at the Race Track.

Ah, the mountain wins again, this happens all the time...

I have no idea how much you know but heaps of people have died around there for decades.

Most people do about 100 to 120klms, even though the roads are utter crap, a freind of mine had a small samsh in an excel doing 80klms around a corner it's generally wet all the time and moss has grown on the corner and many people end up slidding off the road at the same coner.

I my self don't get scred of driving had 3 near miss head-ons, one was on the highway,

At the hyperdome, had a road work truck in the middle of the fast lane, stopped and I had a car that wouldn't let me get out to the other lane so I ended up in between the truck and the concrate barrier, the only damage was to the left fender.

The car ended up with me sitting just in front of the truck bumpper, had the truck driver look over and he must have shit him self and mouthed are you ok.

Said yes, and drove on to work.

The thing that gets me the most about that is that the c**ts drove off about a minute after that happened, so if it had been about 2 mins later it probably wouldn't have ever happened, also no roadwork signs were put up either.

The skid marks are on the highway, just at the dip after the hill, in the fast line heading towards the barrier, on the towards brisbane side.

That was in 2000.

      Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.

      I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.

      The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?

      I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.

      I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
