The thing is though, it doesn't turn 2.5" until almost at the turbo, to allow space to smooth the flow out into the pissy little turbo as you've described. The intake on the stock turbo is exactly 2.5", and if you expanded it to 3" you'd get more air hitting the turbo, but you still need some way to channel it into a 2.5" hole.

Andrew has designed this for the best flow possible, but obviously the stock turbo isn't. If you had a high flow or a turbo with a larger intake you would keep it 3".

At this point in time this is the only intake option for people outside of Melbourne and Sydney, and it can be packed up and mailed off.

yeh scotts one is matched to the size of the inlet, and funnelled out, so this wall isnt hit at all..

but yeh, the option is great for others outside melbourne especially..even within melbourne for those that dont want to hit cut lol

Ok some results...

Before the tune, my economy had improved by 1-2L/100, and the car felt a lot stronger, particularly in the top end.

After tune it seems to have made a good difference, and it looks sexy to boot.

Any more takers?

Picking this up again after Christmas, hopefully there's a bit more interest post Christmas.

I've got Josh and Lukifer keen - need three more to make this happen.

I'll close this Feb 22 now, giving everyone about a month, and some time after Valentines Day for people's wallets to recover, for those tragic romantics out there.

Thanks!

What issues are you having?

If you're sticking with the same filters then the intake pipe shouldn't make the problem worse. Sounds like a problem with the oiled filters, not the AFM.

Hi all.

Next time a GB is started outside the GB area, it will just be locked by Admin/Mods without warning. We've told you guys enough now.

We have the section there for a purpose, we need to use it.

Nothing wrong at all with starting a thread in here to advise people to take a look or anything along those lines, just need them in the right area.

Also we will let this thread run it's course given it's not far off - but in future, please just do the right thing from the start.

Thanks.

Cheers mate. Weird that Andrew sells a lot of M35 stuff on ebay, and nothing on here.

So you can buy off eBay, or get in on the group buy and save $80. Thats *almost* a tank of fuel.

    • Welcome back mate ,I also joined in the early 2000's , since then I have been in and out a few times depending if I had a skyline in the garage.  I have the another one now , so signed up and back with the SAU team.
    • I used "different strokes for different folks" quite pointedly as honestly, there is no wrong when it comes to choosing what you like.  I always day dreamed about flappy paddles with fast shifts in a sporty RWD Turbo and to me the sound and feel of it cutting through gears in a steady stream is exciting, engaging, and keeps the car better balanced - I *also* like h-patterns, but I find them more engaging and fun in a nice hoonable peaky NA thing.  Type-R Integra/old school NA rotary, things that are raw and need all the rpm where picking the gear and getting it sky high is part of the engagement of the whole thing despite the fact that they probably need closer ratios and faster shifts even more than a 3l turbo thing haha
    • If I wasn't allowed or really had the desire to visit China it would probably fit in my carry on, but I have no desire, Japan would be nice during Cherry Blossom time though I might need to chat to Jackie about that, that should actually be an easy conversation though as she is currently talking about another cruise, cruise ship to Japan, a week in Japan to see the sights, then cruise home I may even be able to find those OEM NC Recaro seats over there that I cannot find here 🤔
    • What do you mean?  In between the two I shared?  They're the same boost   This will be insane.   A mate has a GTSt with a 9:1 RB30/25 with Tomei 256 cams and a Borg S362SX-E that is already a beast from the basement but has a stock 5 speed and will probably get a ZF8 one day.  After the G35 900 RB26 setup I'd be lying if the topic of "Wtf would a divided G35 be like on this thing?" idea hadn't come up - you'd definitely want a wide boost control range setup with it, as even with the less responsive and potent S361 we're having to ramp boost in from very low levels in the early gears.
    • ZF8 is faster, wider ratio spread, better in every way. I do not dispute this. But I have brain damage and I want the feeling of shifting gears. To me the extra work is fun, but I daily an automatic and in the US like 90+% of cars are automatic so a manual transmission is an "exotic" experience. If I want an automatic I've driven an F80 M3 with DCT more than a few times and it's incredibly capable but it's emotionally vacant to me.
