Hey guys,

New to the forum! New to skylines as I've been a Holden fan since I could afford one. But I recently moved to QLD (approx a month ago) and want to get into skylines as I've driven one recently and love them! I have no idea what I'm looking for (Absolute n00b), what price is reasonable etc. Any input on this:

Would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers guys!

Not as common as 33 coupes, so a little different, 4door practicality, RB25DET growl and go.

Win, win, WIN !!! It's a series 1 and you can put series 2 taillights on if you wanted.

17 year old car might be good or might be a money pit, is there a work shop in your area that knows Skylines ?

Does the car have service history, where was it serviced.

Can you take it somewhere to get it checked out, put it on a hoist, do a compression test.

It will cost you a bit but its good peice of mind, the owner should only complain if there is problems with the car as it will cost him nothing but a little time.

I might still go bang though, or it might not !

Sorry, but thats how it is.

Your rear end looks good :P haha!

But mlr you're more than right on that, didn't even think about those things, you would think that if it has a RWC you're good to go, but that's not the case, maybe there's a reason why it's so cheap, yet to call the seller. I don't know how to go about it, buy a stock skyline up to 8k, or spend 15k for something modded and well looked after. For me it's a toss up lol.

Again, thanks for the insight :)

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
