I was just wondering if anyone here was going to enter in the Adelaide Autosalon this year?

Is it worth getting a few cars together for a club display? I am hoping mine will be resprayed by then, and I know many of you have excellent cars be it for the quality of finish or the engineering. (or both)

Its a good way to promote the club, and may be a start to being recognised by insurance companies and the likes (which can result in better insurance prices)

I'm not sure when the applications have to be in, but I will try and find out if others are interested.

I've been to many Autosalons (Sydney and Adelaide) but until now I had never even considered entering my own car. I guess there's a first time for everything? :P

In all seriousness Steve, you and I should enter!

Your car is well and truely up to the standard mate. I can't speak for the other forum members, but when I go to these kind of events as a spectator it's cars like yours that impress me the most. A nice custom paint job is probably the biggest area we are lacking in. But who cares? It's not like we're there to win.

To be honest, my engine bay is the only real feature of my car, and when you compare it to most AS cars it's not really that flash anyway!

Hmmm...... ahh stuff it, why not? Yep. I'm in. In fact lets go all out and do like it 4door has proposed - a full 'Skylines Australia' club entry. We've got the numbers to make a pretty damn good showing, and we sure as hell have some impressive cars!

Ross could bring COPYME - his R34 would be a huge stand out! Andrew could bring the S15 (the 12.7 time slip on the windscreen would impress!) All the GT-R (32, 33 and 34) guys could line them up for the biggest gathering of GT-R's seen at an Adelaide Autosalon!

I could go on and on...

The only show stopper I can think of is if the police show up (uniformed or plain clothes) and start recording rego numbers :P

Hey John, what about getting one of your GTR's there - (even if its not ready for the track) I am sure there would be plenty of interest in Australias fastest street GTR (its only a matter of time :-) )

As for rego, why dont we print out (on tin or cardboard) our own SAU plates and cover up your street rego.

Kym, will your R33 car be up for a club display?

We may be able to get some support from a store (Car Toys, Super Cheep etc.) to help with props or bits to improve the site.

Hey guys,

I was told by a mate of mine down there that CarToys is putting on a display with a couple of Skylines on display..I think there's a 4-door something and my mate's 33 GTST will be @ their stand too.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
