So recently i removed my lenses and sprayed the chrome surrounding in the headlights black, and after doing that my headlights fog up with any sight of moisture which is really annoying. I knew it was a possibility to happen but i took the risk anyway. So now i want to remove the outside lense completely like this. Anybody done it?

If you took your lenses off then you know that the headlights aren't sealed. You wouldn't want to drive in the rain with them exposed. So, to do the lensless conversion correctly you'd need to convert to sealed headlamps. That's a pretty big deal as you'd have to totally change out the mounts and adjustment stuff.

Not saying impossible, but it would be a fair bit of work.

I have a banked up project to convert mine to projectors (can't justify the Series 3 expense) and I want to change a few other things when I'm in there. I'll eventually put up a thread when done, but prob won't be till next year.

Pretty hard to see in that picture. Might just be converted to slim rectangular sealed units. Lot of 80's and 90's cars used them before custom lenses with replacement bulbs became the norm.

The R32 Autostyle car had ones like this but they looked like sealed projectors.

Read up on it. Search here on the forums, there is a DIY.

I removed mine to fix a broken adjustment bracket. Use a heat gun or oven to soften the glue then you have to work around it with screw drivers carefully not to crack the plastic.

Don't personally like that style I prefer two square lamps. Each to their own though. Im gonna try get hold of a dremel with a circular attachment or even one of those renovator tools and try cut out the outter lense along the little dip around the diameter of it. I will take pictures as I go and keep you updated. Fingers crossed it turns out reasonable haha!

Yeah obviously you'd get the RWC issues but hey, people run spacers, decats, high mounts, ffp's etc ;)

Yeah, I guess you have a point but...this mod will stick out like a sore thumb screaming for unwanted attention!

Definitely agree! On a noobish note, are R33 GTST series 1 and 2 headlights interchangeable/line up fine? On my phone so the search option isn't the best.

So thread resurrection. Not really finished yet but I've had this project and doing a little here and there over the last year when I have the spare time. I've also got an motor rebuild happening so this is going to take a back seat for a few weeks since the parts are starting to come back in.

This is quite different from anything I've seen on R33's. I also have modified the grill to come out almost to the front of the bumper. The "eye lid" will extend the bonnet line. I will be finishing in fibreglass and then doing carbon overlay over the top.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
