Hi guys I did a search on this but the results are not really suited to my issue. I want to keep my canister button new engine has the hard vacuum lines removed that go around the back of the now installed engine, which leaves the vac and purge lines on the canister without anywhere to hook up to, I could run a line around the back of engine for vac but no idea on purge, is there an easier option?

Just run a rubber hose over there as discreetly as you can and save the big job for a time when the front has to come apart.

I just realised you were talking about an GTR and so where I say "crossover pipe" and "plenum", there would be a slightly different arrangement on a 26. I was talking about lesser RBs.

yeah on the 26 both lines run across the front, are you sure the steel lines aren't still there because they are attached the the plate behind the cam gears so unless they have been unbolted they should be there

getting to where the small hose attaches to manifold is easy the bigger of the two is not going to be fun as it under the plenum next to the BOV signal port

Yes the guy who had it before I'd say wasn't running a charcoal canister and he had stripped alot of those metal lines, I'm really undecided as to whether run two hoses cable tied to the water line already there or pull it all apart and start again, seems a shame those cause I was so clever and did all the belt tensions and had all accessories installed before I put engine in.

Thought I would just continue this thread rather than start another. What's the legalities about charcoal canisters, do you have to run them? Is there any advantage not running them besides less piping and a little extra room in the engine bay? I should be able to remove mine as long as I block the nipple on the intake? Not sure what to do about the kind that runs back under the car, presumably to the fuel tank?

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
