Rb26 Compression Test Not Looking Good

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently I blew the stock turbo on my BNR34, it dumped all the oil out of the exhaust and intercooler. I drove the car home (around a 10min drive). Turbos were changed to -9s and when checking the engine it had barely any oil.

Took it for a Dyno tune and had a compression test done, 1 and 3 didn't have the same compression as the others and was farting out of the exhaust. My tuner reckons the turbo blew some of the wheel into the engine. Just wanted a second opinion/has this happened to anyone?

Cheers

Harry

Time for a new engine or a rebuild unfortunatly.

It's common problem if the ceramic turbo's disintergrate. Ceramic can end up in your block/oil and eventually destroy your rings and other things.

Workshop definitely got things arse about.

Blown turbo = compression test BEFORE fitting new turbos.

This is hardly a new occurrence for an Rb26, workshop worth its salt would know this and prepare customer for the good or bad news.
