450 -500 is gtx 3582 territory on e85 on a stock ford and generally 400 plus on 98. In any case is far more than I am wanting from my daily which has to pull my boat.

Happy to step it down to the gtx 3576 for bit less.

Absolutely - basically those are cases of people oversizing their turbos versus requirements, but going by the video the XR6T motor would actually be quite streetable which means I'd still consider one myself if it were going on a 4litre - being able to build boost on 4 litre engine at 2000rpm means you are on the way to a very potent engine, and being able to make 600+rwkw on E85 means it'd never need to be upgraded.

The 3576 isn't much better then a 3582, which I originally thought it might pickup some response, the difference was very marginal, but it did pull 347rwkws on a stock manifold internally gated at 29psi.

I have a lot of disdain for the GTX3576R from everything I have seen of them (actually the whole GTX range aside from maybe GTX3582R - the HTA range was here already, and did it all... better), as you say - they don't seem to spool much better than a GT3582R and realistically they won't match the flow either, so they are just a smaller turbo. The HTA GT3582R is a much much better turbo, I reckon. Response has been likened to that of the GTX3076R but flow is equal or better than a normal GT3582R. I personally can't see any reason to go smaller than the stock XR6T turbo, but if you did - the GT3582R HTA would be the thing to go for.

The GTX76 I feel would potentially also not be enough compressor for the 4litre - its a high PR unit, the 4litre is going to want to want good flow even at 1bar boost.

Lith, the stock turbo on the FG range is a Ford spec'd 3576 with .5 cover which has been downsized from the earlier models to reduce lag. The 3582 with .5 cover is now only found on the FG F6 range.

So the GTX3576 is a higher flowing turbo than what I have. Yes the GT3582 does make slightly more power than the GTX3576 and the compressor maps suggest this should be the case. From my reading of the various ford forums the GTX3576 is appreciably more responsive than the GT3582 and those using them on their Falcons rave about them but do note that the power does fall away up top whereas the 3582 has a few more legs. However, for a street car I'll miss the responsiveness more than the power in the top part of the rev range and prefer area under the curve in that part of the rev range I mostly use.

Getting to the heady power levels you talk of, whilst easy to achieve, requires a rebuilt ZF with billet shafts, uprated tailshaft and valve springs which are additional costs I'd rather forgo.

Ahh I missed that you had an FG. If this is the case, I would fully roll with an HTA3582 - there is a likelyhood you may lose a tiny bit of response over the GT3576R, however at the same time it will also be quite substantially more responsive than the GT3582R versions and an all around upgrade. I'd put money on not being able to tell the difference between a GTX3576R and an HTA3582 in lag on a 4litre (in an honest test where you don't know which one you are driving) - but the HTA being a better match for the engine. It'd work very nicely IMHO.

Yes the HTA3582 is my first choice - however just awaiting a response from Forced Performance as to whether they use the superior GTX bearing cartridges.

I have never used a gtx3582r..

I personaly think and my tuner would agree that the gtx3576r is really more like a 370-380rwkw turbo.. We had to push it to make 400rwkw and squeeze the sh*t out of it to go 430rwkw.

really this turbo was happy a 380rwkw.. I had 403rwkw with the standard F6 turbo..

Its hard to say what I liked better.. the gtx3576r is punchy and extreamly strong thro the mid rang.. But then fall over a little up top..

If you want a punchy turbo for street use and not worried if it doesnt make 400rwkw then id go the gtx3576r.(could be happy making more on E85) would pull some impresive 60fts with ease!

If you want more I can only recommend the standard F6 turbo as I havnt tried the gtx3582r.. Mine with f6 turbo at 400rwkw felt like a jet though. Pulled hard to redline.

430rwkw on the GTX3576 is E85. Think the F6 Turbo made 450rwks on E85 from memory. All other numbers pump.

Yep HTA 3582 and HTA 3586, depending on your preferences, would suit the Ford turbo crowd.

Correction...the F6 turbo was pushed to 442 on 98 with 21-22 psi....with just over 400 daily at 17 psi ...post 102

Very nice - with a cleaner launch that's only going to get quicker :D This is a GTR, right?

I sent them an email today .......so will see if the response has changed. Am hoping they are using the gtx cores.

I was looking at the hta 3582 or hta 3586 for my G6E turbo. Otherwise the GTX 3576 would be a punchy performer on the falcon motor.

By default they use the "normal" GT-series BB cores, however can do the metal cage by request - their billet cores they have started doing now are all metal cage though I'm not too sure how much of their range are using those, so far. Getting confirmation

Yea r32 gts4. Unfortunately at adelaide you cant run under 11sec without a cage so only get one shot at it.

I did do a 1.67 60' on my first run but got off it at half track coz i thought it wasnt a very good launch. Have done 1.58 at another track before but was only 1/8 mile.

Yea i would say about 10.3 with a good launch and bit of boost.

I looked into cage sone time ago but its not just that its alot of other stuff that is required, harness, scattersheild, external battery isolator etc. plus super sedan licence snd regular tech inspections. I decided its too expensive and too hard as its just a steeet car that i would like to race only occasionaly.

Email confirmation received that the FP turbo's are built with the GT bearings but can be built with metal cages if desired.

They are only going to order it on your behalf, and then tack on their tax. He is just a small outfit that runs his own website, too. So there is no real re-seller buying security.


IMHO You should organise your own purchase and establish the relationship with FP direct. That way you can get the support you need and don't need to worry if your re-seller won't be operating next week.

Yep if i were to go the metal cage route I would deal direct with FP so there is nothing lost in "translation". I just though that link up there for others who might be interested in a local dealer.

In responding to my email questions - FP also advised that, although heavily dependent on the setup, their 3586 is about 500rpm laggier than the their 3582. Further, the turbo's can also be bought without the ex housings and are $175 cheaper without the housing (in the case of the 3582 and 3586 anyway).

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.   
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.

    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
