Yeah i maybe should of gone for a 3582 but ill try this out first and see how it goes, should give some great midrange and sound awesome thru the streets.

Should have bought my old 3037 :P

If its just for a responsive streeter the GT30 should do a pretty good job, will run out of puff for sure but sounds like outright power is low on the priority list?

Yeah, I think ill learn how to drive it with a 3076 and see where its limits are for a year, then it might change direction toward HTA3582, its never a closed book with these builds lol.. that's why ill build the motor strong

for future increases. :) but will love the 3076 spool ups on the street , I don't think it will be that slow, probably do a 12sec quarter still. I hope.

Have you been down the quarter yet matt?

Haha i know, the build never ends

Nope, been too busy thrashing on track... Will run the quarter one day but after breaking the last gearbox i have decided not to try launching the car anytime soon...

low boost being like 20psi, lol.. that will teach you HTA people.. :P

was actually thinking bout wether to have the box checked when it comes off, wonder if you can strengthen/replace a few gears without massive cost..

Actually low boost is spot on 20psi lol

I dont think there is any cheap way around it mate, freshen up the oil and just use and abuse

At the stage of deciding on pistons now, pretty much set on the wiseco pistons( with coated skirts) and rings with forged rods ( brian crower rods) off ebay,

if anyone has any input/advice im open, pretty much going for the RB25 forged pistons and decking the block, and going with the rebuild of the RB30, wondering if I should reuse my RB25 oil pump and harmonic balancer as well.. should I be testing the pump or should I be ok to assume that it will be ok? ( 180ks on my RB25 pump, no issues with it last time it was running)

Collecting parts at the moment, the RB30 is a fairly big task and don't have a lot of time at the moment so I think I might try to resurrect the RB25 , that will give me a back to back dyno comparison that way and I can enjoy driving the car again rather than who knows how long getting an RB30 built. So will try taking the head off this weekend to see what went wrong with cyl 5 that is at 60psi, meanwhile ill keep the parts coming in , tempting to buy secondhand but I know buying quality parts is best for the best results. :)

got a 44mm tial gate today and have ordered a Plazmaman Plenum too .. be good to drive it again hopefully before xmas, and probably push the RB25 to 340kw this time if all goes well.

Received the plazmaman plenum today, wish I had a hoist, get the head spins . Forget previous post, changed mind again to do RB30 .. got this far, may as well rip it out and on with the RB30.

Hopefully it will be reasonably straightforward, looks like the RB30 block doesn't have knock sensors so I assume I can drill and tap to use the RB25 knock sensors.. will have to read the RB30 threads more. The Plazmaman i'm assuming will solve the bonnet clearance issues.

Been a while, deciding to follow other peoples path of an unopened RB30 bottem end and slap a neo head on, found a R31 skyline, started it up and she was purring nice  so no problem sorted there.. just need slowly source parts and slap together...

Took her out of hibernation, and heads are turning , lol

Really loving the GTR wheels, tough but not over the top, this thing deserves an RB30DET bad lol.... 400kw's long term but will play with GT3076 for a while with it..

Not bad for an old beast, paints held up good :)

Is there much difference between neo head compared to r33 head with tomei cams??? just weighing the cost savings as my head doesn't seem to be getting much interest at the moment so obtaining a neo head then a cas then rewiring it and getting it serviced starts to add up in cost when my R33 head is in perfect condition with tomei cams....

should I stick to getting neo head or will the R33 head just mean it can be tuned with more ignition timing??

Use what you have got.

Enjoy it..

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
