For anyone who remembers the old HPI VHS' (and later DVDs) from the late 90s and early 2000s, I found this American version using the exact same footage and script, FTW!!! - Was this done on purpose by HPI to sell to an American audience, or did some yank just decide to remake Australia's greatest car mag videos for his buddies in a language they would understand :P (in either case, what's wrong with the Australian accent?)??? Check the links out for both and post your thoughts:

ORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN VERSION:

REMASTERED AMERICAN VERSION:

From memory it was Ben Ellis, now, former HPI Editor and owner of Otomoto.

He was the one who first narrated the HPI videos (The voice in the original AUS Ver.)

I'd assume him being the former HPI Editor (does not work for HPI anymore).

When HPI did the re-release they had to find another narrator... Emilio Seballos...

HPI made the best magazines of all, and he's Australian not American

Do you watch the second link? The American narration is in that one - you only heard Australian because you only watched the first clip :O

Hmm interesting....

back in the day they came out in both, the pal version had Ben (Aussie accent)

The NTSC version had the American bloke

I only remember Ben Ellis and his monotone voice :P Don't remember there being 2 versions when I bought the HPI v.2 and v.3 VHS' at the 2000 Melbourne Auto Salon.......ahh the memories......(I've still got em if anyone's keen for a vintage watch though I don't know of anyone who still has a VHS player!!)

Only the PAL standard version was available in Australia, as we use the PAL standard video system in Australia

America uses the NTSC standard video system and that's where the NTSC version went

    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk
