morning everyone,

i have started the process for my RB30/25 set up, and i am currently looking for someone to do the block and head, ie, acid wash bore, port , polish, and tap new VCT ect - so just to do that i have so far been quoted between 6 - 7 grand... dose this seem right..

im only questioning this as i met someone last night had all the same work done but on a rb25det for 3 grand.

(this dose not include essembling the motor)

this is my first build so i am unnsure what is a reasonable price for this type of job..

i am from canberra but i am willing to take my parts to sydney.

if anyone could pass on there opinion what a rough price is for this work, and or if they can recommend a shop in sydney - canberra area.

thanks

A properly ported head has $2000 worth of time in it.

Yep.

Soon as I saw "head work" - I wasn't surprised... Need far more details surrounding it.

If they are totally rebuilding the head and not just giving it a clean up - then 7k for the lot and leaving the bottom end assembly, IMO, is actually reasonable

Either way far more detail required.

the head and bottem will be bare - i am giving them the pistons so its bored out correctly and they are porting and polishing the head - making surfaces both flat - acid washing, re drilling/ locating the pully and vct feed - then we are putting the head and block togeather

what more detail do you need?

OK LOL

i think i might shop around sydney - as canberra dosnt seem to have anyone and the one i did get a quote from was $7,000+

when i mean anyone - i mean anyone that dose quality work not just basic engine stuff, and the shop i went to was "performance engines"
