No Crust Racing
I'm looking to get into a basic suit setup for the added protection and peace of mind. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Can anyone recommend a good pack that includes at the very least a suit boots and gloves? Do you guys go further with underwear, balaclavas, socks, neck brace etc? Is something like this considered good value? http://autosport.com.au/itemdetailspage/16373 Edited July 5, 2013 by ActionDan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/428099-race-suitskits/ Share on other sites
SRS13
That is excellent value. That seems perfect for what you do and need (assuming they are nomex material) Of course you can get better suits ie 2 and 3 layer but you pay for that. No Crust Racing
Having a look at what I can get individually I'm thinking it might be a bit expensive. http://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/g-force-racing/part-type/driving-suits/driving-suit-size/mens-large I think the Velo suit is a far whack of that. evil_weevil
I bought my OMP boots of Ebay, my gloves from an online motorsport store and my Sparco 2 layer suit from demon tweeks in the UK. No Crust Racing
I knew you'd pop your head in here Harry, I was waiting for you to jump in and dish out the details This is very good to know. 3 seconds seems awfully short. I wonder hot that compares to my jeans, leather shoes and a long sleeve cotton shirt lol Edited July 5, 2013 by ActionDan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/428099-race-suitskits/#findComment-6916418 Share on other sites

No Crust Racing
So an A5 would hold up pretty well then against anything that wasn't an inferno. Where's FIA stuff on the ladder? No Crust Racing
Cool thanks. So are people running around in single layers or opting for the higher rated suits? It''s only a club level car, not door to door racing. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/428099-race-suitskits/#findComment-6916438 Share on other sites
hrd-hr30
Those times are for radiant heat type of burns. Jeans aren't going to offer any protection from that. Obviously the material is also highly flame resistant, which is another big advantage over cotton IF you are ever in a firey crash and can't get out. No Crust Racing
What do you think of this getup. Better than base level on all fronts and pretty cheap delivered. No Crust Racing
That suit title says 3.2/1 but the part number 120025 and the 120 series designation is definitely 5 rated multi layer. SRS13
You can get better and you can spend a lot more and you can try and buy things separately and save money but as a package that contains the lot the link you put up is cheap and easy. It's like buying a helmet... $100 to $3000... what do you get?? No Crust Racing
The stuff I posted in that pic is cheaper but higher rated though and I wasn't intending on buying undies or socks. Velo suit is single layer too. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/428099-race-suitskits/#findComment-6916575 Share on other sites
