So at Matsuri, the car went from looking like this...1922014_639959332706435_1934333717_n.jpg

...to this... :/20140223_090210_zpsqarlvnvc.jpg

The new front end setup was just too stiff, consequently, the car had a lot of understeer. In hindsight, I should have tried to tune it out instead of driving around it. Combine this with copious amounts of rear grip, and running new tyres at low pressure, meant the car was very quick and on this one occasion the speed caught me off guard.

Sorry to see you had a "mishap" on the weekend man, any damage to the wheel or suspension?

Considering, that could have been a lot worse, and to be honest for a drift matsuri, if that's the worst that happened the car held up well ;P

Thanks Danial, Tim, you are right, it could have been worse. Because the Ikeya Formula control arms are so strong, they transferred all the force in to the engine subframe and k-frame, elongating the mounting holes for the pick-up points and bending it out of shape. The arms actually look okay, but I'm yet to pull it all down. Plus I think the rad support is a bit out of shape.Only the lips of the rims we damaged, so they should be fixable with some work.

It's time to update this. Unfortunately, it's not going to be a 'big reveal', that some, myself included, may have be hoping for. Truth be told, the car has been sitting in a corner of the workshop being neglected since the crash. For some reason I took the whole ordeal to heart and I'd be lying if I didn't say that the black dog has reared its ugly head again. Nonetheless work has begun, and progress is progress.

The first thing to do, was to change out the bent crossmember. In lieu of this, I ordered a set of Nismo engine mounts.

To support the motor while I dropped the cross member, I fitted this home made engine stand.

Out with the old.

As you can see, the LH engine mount was broken. This confirmed my earlier suspicions.

It took a fair old hit, and you can see here, just how badly it was bent.

It even bent the bolt.

In with the new.

I also took the liberty of replacing the castor arm brackets, but neglected to get a picture of this. The Nismo gearbox mount fitted up.

The long Nismo box, pictured earlier, contained this boot brace which I fitted to help stiffen up the rear end.

More to follow.

Glad to see some progress Tim! Can't believe how bad that subframe was, was a bigger hit than I thought!

Hope everything is going well for you mate, can't wait to see you back out on the track :)

Continuing with the N1 theme.

A pair of brand new N1 headlights. The crash broke all the mounts on my projector headlights, and while I do prefer the look of the projectors, I just couldn't go past this cheaper and cooler option.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
