Morning Everyone

I was just wondering if any one can guide me on this issue I am having with my awd system on my r32 gts4.

When I bought the car the awd system never worked and last night I thought I start playing doctor and see what is causing this system not to work.

So Symptoms

1. When you turn the key on no AWD or Hicas lights come on,
2. Checked 10A fuse under Dash, Fuse is good ( Continuity ) but once u plug it in there is no power or Continuity.
3. Ecu no red light on & no wires cut
4. Fuse under hood ( anti-skid 30am) no continuity or power when key is turned on
5. Relay in the truck next to the latch has power but no continuity
6. I bypassed the Relay, pump comes on but if you hold it there for a while it makes a nasty noise... sad.gif
7. There is fluid in Tank located in the truck

I found a Attesa ECU wiring Diagram and will be working on it tonight, with searching I found that pin 42 sometimes need to be grounded.

This video Helped a lot.

I need to Test the power wire to ECU and trace the wire from fuse box under dash to its power and ground, but if any one has had this issue it be great help save me some time and money.

Cheers

What do you mean by "has power but no continuity"? Does that mean that there's power on one side of the fuse but not the other? Does that mean that there's power on both sides of the fuse but the wire that goes out to the circuit appears to be broken?

If I inherited a problem like this, I would tend towards the assumption that something mechanical in the AWD system died and the owner took the simple bodgy approach of disconnecting the electrics to it rather than fix it.

Have you checked the globes? The lights should come on when the key is turned to "ON" (before "START") - its a check that the globes are working. Otherwise, if the lights come on while the engine is running, it means there is an error in the HICAS &/or ATTESA.

The fuse box under the hood does only have power on one side and no continuity, i did find a plug that is unplugged that connects to the fuse box under the hood, but there is nothing to plug it in to... its attached to wire that goes in the strut tower.

yes i aggree that something was wrong with the awd system and he disconnected it electronically, because there is no power going to the ECU but there is power to the relay in the truck

no there is no lights that come on the dash, only ebrake and seat belt i think are the only ones,

I was looking for the Ignition wire to Fuse box to see if that has been cut because the circuit is not complete when the ignition is on. I just dont understand how there is power to the relay in the truck. I got a wiring diagram but doesnt help much i need to find it in the car

Don't you mean "trunk"?

Don't you mean "trunk"?

Yes... My bad

In the boot. Just left of the boot lid catch, there are two relays. The bigger one on the left is the 4WD relay.

ya the big one if i bypass the red and yellow wires i hear the pump come on but there is no power to ecu. I did find a plug unplugged that is connected to the ABS wire... doesnt seem like there is anything that connects to it because there is nothing in the area.

Also

I do not have ABS.

can anyone show me what dash lights are suppose to come on in a gts-4 Please

Can't seem to post a pic, but lights as follows:

left side:

Anti-Lock HICAS

Handbrake Battery

and right side:

Oil

4WD

I believe you must have ABS, because ATTESA uses the ABS wheel sensors to detect slip.

So I am stumped right now I have taken the driver kick panel off and its nothing but wires for the compustar car alarm. Its like a rats nest.

Is there any way that you can cut power to awd and abs.

The 4wd fuse is good both under hood and under dash.

I don't want to touch those wires cuz I am not suee whey they go.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
