Bryce it's only used for sealing the actual butterfly inside the throttle body.

IF you haven't cleaned the stock stuff off then you have nothing to worry about.

You would think the workshops around here would have something they use.

I texted my mate at Toyota and he is going to check for me.

If I can't find anything then I might just bite the bullet and order some of the stuff.

Check this stuff out guys

Suggested Applications: Valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets

kasko you should try some Hylomar, was recommended to me by scotty for sealing off my plenum and its worked so far, so for your throttle body it would be worth the $14 to try.. comes in a bottle or spray

Started up the car on Monday and it had a rough idle.

Gave it a little rev and it stalled.

Been trying to diagnose the issue for the past 2 nights.

After checking fuel & spark I finally got to checking comp

GAME OVER

Cyl 1 = 90

Cyl 2 = 25

Cyl 3 = 70

Cyl 4 = 90

Cyl 5 = 60

Cyl 6 = 70

Haven't done it at all

Owned the car for 45,000km

And I'm not sure when the previous guy did it.

I guess I should have checked it and done it when I first purchased the car. As you know I have had both power steering and fan belt snap.

Yep i recall :P

Maybe check the timing and condition on it first by just taking the top cover off....

The fact all cylinders are down indicates something dodgy going on...

Everyone seems to think the engine could still possibly be okay. I always fear the worst in these situations.

I'll take the cover off tonight if its easy enough to get to. Should only be a few bolts right?

Yeah its easy enough man!

And at the end of the day, who cares if its the engine? Its a standard RB, its not the end of the world :) Look at the positives hehe

Not worried about the cost of a new engine.

More worried about the labour costs to pull out and fit a new engine.

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
