hey guys..this is very exciting...i have been in contact with a few people who are looking at building NSW's first dedicated drift track and they are not mucking around...money is no object for them.

This will enable people to practice and then compete. i have been asked to find out how many people would like to see this sort of thing happen....i dont have many details on where, when, cost or what else is going to be there but there is talk maybe another drag strip aswell in the same "park" ;)

so if you think you will use this track at least once in your life time post up how you feel about it :headspin:

The more people the better

Thanks Guys...

I'll keep you updated as i hear

Aaron

I'm sure I'll use it at least once if it doesn't cost the earth and is designed with safety in mind. Slow speed drift tracks would be best to have considering the skill levels seen around here. (I'm including myself in this disparaging comment.)

would definately be a good idea so long as they can get the insurance for it which will be the hardest part of setting this thing up

im sure a few guys down here would like to make a weekend out of it so thumbs up from here

id definately put in a slow speed track cos most of us dont have the skills of a d1 driver

but maybe if money is no object then a medium to high speed one could be made also, but requiring u to pass a test on the small one so no high risk is taken

yeah i told them insurance would be a problem but apparently not ...oh well...let them figure it out

yeah i like the idea of a slow course...and yeah i might let him know about the twin track idea...

- any other ideas you guys would like to see at a course..

Safety is going to be a huge priority, there wouldn't be much point making a track to give everyone a place to do it if its just as dangerous as doing it on the streets..the whole idea to provide a safe environment for people to do it.

what about a fixed track or one similar to driftland in the drift bible where its a maze and then you are able to make a track by blocking sections off.

Awesome idea.Although I think a lot of research should be put into the design of the track(s) as that would make or break it.Some thing similar to the Japanese multi-track complexes would be the go I reckon.

I'd definatly have a go if we had access to a good track!!!

yeah i thought about location near somersby but Gosford council wont have a bar of it and if they did it would take them years to let anyone do it so..

location like i said i have no idea where. they have to find somewhere where council will let them but i dont think it will be much of a problem.

Tracks designs are important..they are currently researching that aspect...you guys are the ones going to be using them so if you guys want to come up with some ideas for tracks i will surely present them to them.

the more information you guys can give me the more i can present to them and more chance of getting something really great that everyone will like..

in terms of spectators i have no doubt that it will a big part of design as alot of people are going to want to watch this sport/art form.

if you guys have any ideas on any part of the track/course/park like

training days and how they should be held

competitions and how they should be held

open times

safety for drivers and spectators

rankings for drivers

anything at all

please post up or email me pictures of concepts are great especially for track designs and such...

thanks guys

I would suggest having a great big square of concrete/bitchamin (Sp?) for the absolute newbies, then a track that can run either tight infield or slightly faster possibly banked (thinking back to Jap drift vids) corners around the outside with lots of different combo's and the ability to have 10 cars or more on circuit at once!

watch some drift dvds, try to copy the tracks n use what u think from those tracks would be good design

also maybe get some advice from australias top drivers

u may even b able to get some sort of sponsor ship or b able to hold anual drift comps like they do now

just depends on how good that track is

yeah i thought about location near somersby but Gosford council wont have a bar of it and if they did it would take them years to let anyone do it so..

Maybe Port Macquarie would be good :) .....It's sort of half way between Sydney and Brisbane,so would cater to a large section of the coast.....

Mwahahahaha just don't tell them you live in Port....

Did I just think that or did I type it

:rant::):rant::):D :D :D

Money no object ??? I don't think so -

Who ever you are talking to might have plenty of $$ - But if they don't get any $$ back in return they will not fork out.

A proper business case needs to put forward to potential investors - this includes all the risks and benefits- quantified !

I think it would be a wonderful idea - but not if I have to pay $500 a pop.

Just make sure the plan is well thought out and is sustainable.

I realise the sport is taking off here and have often wondered if a dedicated drift park would appear - I know OP and EC are seriously into this - the old Go Cart circuit is even named Driftland now.......

Be interested to see you you go :

Cheers,

yeah i wouldn't pay $500 a go either

if the price is reasonable i think alot of people are going to go. well i will be anyway.

i think what DRFT32 ment by money was no object is that they will be able to put up the money to do a very decent circuit, and that everyone will be happy with. if you have a set budget the quality of the course may drop because things always come up in big projects like this. i realize and i am sure they would, you still have to know what you need to spend before you start something this big.

i bet the business plan for this will be huge as there is so much to consider..but i hope it all happens, would love to go there, hopefully by the time its built i'll have my silvia hehe

later

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
