hi all found this site and couldnt resist

bought a import r33 gtst

i got it really cheap as the there was a shit load of parts missing from interior but finnally got that sorted

i got plenty of questions for nsw sydney people on like places to go to find mo info on wat parts are in my engine and things so that help would be appreciated.

attached photos of how she is now

from my research i know it has a bigger turbo than standard

has a front mount intercooler

i installed volt guage and didgital boost guage and greddy turbo timer.

firrst question may sound dumb but i feel its under powered and spludders around 4500rpm and if i go past 1/4 throttle

i am led to my investigation its due to intercooler and bigger turbo intsalled by previous owner and if it this do i need a aftermarkt ecu or just a nistune ecu

thanks for reading if u actually do hahha

you coulkd be right. however id be checking your coilpacks. 4.5k is where they notoriously break down. if your modding go a full set of splitfires or brand new nissan ones. also if it does have a bigger turbo but standard ecu it would drive like shit... and i mean shiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

First off, congrats.

Second, this is the place for all information.

Third, did you get a comp test done? Change the spark plugs and gap them to 0.8mm. See if that makes any diffence. Then take your car to a tuner and get the nistune that you suggested. It will do fine.

Is your car running more than 10psi? Or is it at 7psi?

Best thing would be to just throw it on a dyno and see what is going on with it.

Thanks for the replies yeah I know about the notorious flat spot but its wierd cause even if I go slow it does and worse if I punch it past

well on my boost guage it goes to 10 plus psi and shits itself real bad at 11psi

I have done plugs and gapped them coil packs are fine I think

welcome.

looks like a nice car.

hope you get the issue sorted quickly.

thanks luke yeah me too from all the help on the site and big help from plattsy im on the hunt for a greddy ecu found a few on ebay for around 400 bucks so yeah and im off to garage 88 as i here there pretty good to see if they tell me whats done to my motor and go from there

Head over to Adaptronic too. Have a look at the Select range of ECUs.

Direct plug and play, no need to cut or mod anything to fit the ECU.

awesome thanks they look the good but dont have 1500 bucks right now just for a computer kinda need to do the cheaper thing until my other car sells hahah

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
