G'day I'm kenny.

I've been told i've made a terrible purchase in buying the r33 that i have bought by a few performance shops, IMG_0381_zps7a2a9b4b.jpg IMG_0379_zps763a250c.jpg

and i'm licking my wounds trying to revert the work that's been done to the car to get it back to being safe. I need help because honestly i'm way in over my head

to go into this with no knowlage about turbos or rb25's. Right now as the car is, it has NO boost control at all, with a truck turbo, powersteering hose for oil on and angle (gravity fed), stock ecu, pops intercooler pipes (my failsafe for overboost O_O), and theres an oil leak at the bottem near the exhast manifold from i assume powersteering hose?

the brakes even rub on the rims. IMG_0412_zps4c787943.jpg
So what i've been told is the most cost effective way to get this car back to a safe tune without blowing up my engine is to revert everything back to stock and start from there. So i've bought r33 turbo + dump pipe + manifold+airflow seonsor and a fresh new intercooler kit for stock r33's, how should i go about installing it? where is the turbo located on a stock rb25det? (this guy moved the turbo). Can someone explain starting from the throttle body all the parts to the dump pipe+pod filter? (what part goes where). will i need any special tools? things to avoid? What piping needs to be replaced (braided lines)?

If you see anything unsafe in the pictures let me know aswell please

You could get a Hypergear and computer package and buy my injectors and be laughing rather than reverting to stock.. selling some of that gear and you'd be half way there and happy days

get some spacers for the brakes, intercooler looks good from pic

My budget has come to a sudden halt after buying all the stock parts, i have a plug play ecu that i can install after i get the stock turbo back in to mess with upgrades when i can afford them.

i have these to go back to stock, is this everypart i'll need?

also havedump pipe to ehaust

which ones? i know the intercooler piping isn't because stock is a sidemount, but it's a it for the stock setup. Stock turbo.. what else isn't?

Dump pipe also isn't stock... Looks like a split dump to me :)

is that bad/good? does that mean i'll need a different exhaust size?

From this end it looks like a stock flange... Throw up some more detailed photos of the dump and measure the end of it to see how big it is :)

With more detail I might be able to give you some helpful advice ;)

Front mount intercooler isn't stock but I guessed you knew that

I may have missed it previously but why do you want it stock anyway?

Well, that dump is definitely a split dump, intended to be an exact replacement for the standard dump. So if you have the downpipe that goes between the dump and the cat, then you will be able to bolt it all up to a standard turbo on a standard manifold.

Those cheap arse short split dumps are not the greatest, but it will work, provided the wastegate flap still moves properly. So when you fit it up, make sure the wastegate swings freely. If it doesn't, put the split dump in a metal recycling bin and go grab a standard one for (nearly) free from any workshop that has worked on an RB engine.

I want it stock because right now it's running a massive turbo on a stock ecu (dangerous), 60% of all pipes are held with basic radiator clamps and old joiners with plastic pipes(dangerous), the blue pipes you see in the photo comingout the top of my engine (not sure what they have inside of them) are bad qaulity and crimping whilst not being clamped, i have no boost control/wastegate on this turbo (if you look at the stock turbo i have the waste gate to remove pressure). Right now i can't rev past 4k rpm because my turbo spools uncontrollibly and the pipes wont hold, so i have to pull over and attach the intercooler hoses back on, but all the tuning shops i went too said i should stay off boost completely until i get boost control sorted. And if i tear everything that has been done and go back to stock i'll have a rb25det that can be red lined without worrying of fuel cut or overboost, or my enginge blowing up. and i'll know there wern't any shortcuts taken so things wont break.

i cleaned the factory turbo out, checked play (5mm), and checked waste gate/actuator and everything operates fine, waste gate opens when you pull on the metal line going to the actuator(spring). I also need to know where the vacum line goes too from the actuator.

Is this my downpipe?

and could you idetify the (?) part? also that metal oil line, what does that attach too?

Dude where are you located? It sounds like you have no idea whats what and it might be better for one of us more technically minded SAU's to come have a look and help you.

Probably save you alot of $$$ in the long run.

Pm me if need be.

Looks like WA plates.

The dude has made a boo-boo. Would be good if someone who knows what's what could meet him in person and give him a few pointers. I'd happily do it but haven't got any plans to travel to WA anytime soon, and by soon I mean ever.

doesnt look as bad as you think....for starters Its an external gate turbo mate...look under the turbo you will see another pipe separate from your turbo with a wastegate on it, i can see it in the picture if it has a 14psi spring in it well technically that is your boost control..its not ideal but it does work....

Just sort your intercooler piping out so it doesn't pop.....buy an aftermarket ecu and get a tune...should make some sort of decent power, the only reason it is freaking out at 4000rpm is because of the computer...

as for brakes rubbing just buy some wheels spacers to move them out a bit...

Oh yeah get a braided oil feed line

Honestly it just looks like your typical.slap.job someone has put together in their backyard and then realized they need to spend 3k on a ecu, injectors and a tune...so they gave up

You pick up a signal for the wastegate actuator either off the nipple on the front cover of the turbo (compressor housing) if it has one, or off a nipple in the compressor outlet pipework.

That pipe might be the downpipe. The photo is so bad it could be anything.

The question mark thing looks like the compressor outlet elbow. It bolts onto the compressor outlet to turn the flow 90° towards the front of the car for the stock cooler piping.

    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
    • One year is a bit concerning. Did you try contacting GSP? It says 5 year warranty on the box if I remember correctly. I'm also running their driveshafts on my S2 Stagea.   You could check the part numbers on Amayama for your year. Here's the link for my 1998 which gives the 39100-23U60 part number. Well, that and 39100-23U70. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/trans/391 What does it say for yours?
    • I ordered a GSP Front R/H Axle from here - https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-front-driveshaft-r-h-nissan-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-stagea-4wd#description It lasted around a year before one of the boots blew out. I'm lowered, but I have GKTech roll center adjusters. One year seems a little premature. I think I'm going to spend the extra money on an OEM cv axle this time. This website - https://tfaspeed.com/collections/nissan-stagea-wgnc34-x-four-parts/products/nissan-stagea-awc34-260rs-rb26-right-front-axle-drive-assembly Makes it sound like the readily available OEM CV axle will only fit 11.1999 Stagea and up (mine is a 2.1997 S1). The JustJap listing didn't mention any years or anything for the GSP axle. Amayama shows '11.1999' and up as well for that part number. As well as 'plastic boot type'. See attached picture. So I guess my question is, does that axle (39100-23U60) really only fit S2 Stagea? It's the front driver side. If it does, I'd love to buy that instead of rolling the dice on another GSP. I've found that OEM one cheaper here: https://www.partsfornissans.com/oem-parts/nismo-jdm-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-r32-gts4-right-front-axle-3910023u60 and here https://www.nissanparts.cc/oem-parts/nismo-shaft-ft-drive-3910023u60 Just a little confused because the JapSpeed listing for the GSP front driver axle doesn't mention any specific years or anything and it fit my S1 Stagea fine. So will 39100-23U60 fit my S1 Stagea even though technically it says '11.1999' and up? What would have changed? Thanks.
    • Thanks for the info. The only "Issue" I've had with the shifter is I always found the throw between 4th and 6th gear too close. I'm always worried to shift into 4th accidently and sending my motor to the moon. Adam LZ recently came out with a video and stated Serialnine revised their shifters to correct this and will change all the revised parts for 150$. Strangely enough, I contacted Serialnine right after and they denied it and said it's bullshit. I found that strange as he's a distributer. I'll keep this forum post updated on that saga.
    • Yep that is correct. It allows you to adjust the short throw range from what I can tell
