Man trapped under car in crash

tradesman has been seriously injured after he was pinned under a car driven by an alleged hoon, which spun out of control on a suburban street in Melbourne's north west.

The victim, in his forties, was building a fence at the Rokewood Crescent home, in Meadow Heights, when a p-plate driver lost control.

The Nissan Skyline mounted the footpath and slammed into the man, pinning him between the car and a truck parked on the driveway.

Emergency crews spent 45 minutes working to free the man in a delicate rescue operation.

Witnesses have told 7News the driver was performing burnouts and speeding along the road before losing control of the car.

Sergeant Dean Pickering said the 19-year-old p-plater was breaking the law simply by getting behind the wheel.

"It's a high-powered car. It's a car that's banned for probationary drivers. It's a fast car and there's no doubt in the world, it's not appropriate for somebody that's still learning to drive," he said.

Sgt Pickering said police had received complaints about a car being driven erratically in the area before the crash.

"At about that time, we've had reports of a Nissan Skyline being driven fairly erratically through the area.

"You can see what's happened...the car has mounted the footpath, has ended up through the front of this house, has hit the fence where this fellow was working. Unfortunately, he's been embedded under the car."

The victim was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition suffering from pelvic and spinal injuries.

Sgt Pickering slammed the stupidity of the driver, saying this type of behaviour is 'frustrating' and puts lives at risk.

"This is the sort of stuff that's really frustrating for us. It's not an accident, it's someone's behaviour that has caused something like this to happen," he said.

The 19-year-old driver, who escaped unharmed, is in police custody.

That's true Odium, just thought it was good to see the driver being portrayed as the one at fault, rather than the car... "It's a fast car and there's no doubt in the world, it's not appropriate for somebody that's still learning to drive.."

Yeah there was a skyrine crash on Springvale Rd/Hawthorn Road in Vermont/Forest Hill a few months back, they focused on the car heaps... didn't help that they had cop dashcam footage of it running

How much you want to bet it was some lebo as well. WTF is wrong with that side of town, seriously all full of f**kwits. So glad I don't own a skyline anymore :domokun:

I hardly see lebo's/wogs etc in these cars anymore, they all moved on to BMW 3 series with the hectic leather for the ladies, or VZ SV6 lol.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
