Hey guys,

I'm new to the skyline scene. Bought myself a R33 GTS-T not long ago. It's currently completely stock.

I have decided to slightly modify it. However, I'm not willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money on it. I'm basically in need of help as to what mods are the best value for money.

I currently have these in mind:

- CAI

- FMI

- Full exhaust system

- Tune

Please recommend any places in Sydney as well as what you think. Thanks!

Modifying a skyline and not spending what some would call ridiculous money dont work in the same sentence.

You do realise to tune, you require an aftermarket ecu a chip or piggy back atleast. Bring on the money to he spent.

Fmic

Nistune

Full exhaust

Drive...

Then do maintenance

There is $2k

Im new to the 33 aswell and mine has a full xforce exhaust 3.5 inch and theres a receipt for $860 supply and fitted. The one thing i would say is that dont go for a center muffler type but go for the resonator style on any exhaust for exhaust height clearance.

I had a xforce ( http://www.xforce.com.au/products.php?make=Nissan&model=3) with the oval resonator and excluding cat installed after I was rear ended last year. If I recall it was $900. Doesn't sound too bad just recently replaced stock cat with a steel high flow venom 4.25" cat and it sounds pretty good with it. (Due to over fueling it is now popping flames though). If your going to upgrade the zaust wouldn't hurt replacing your down pipe as well (if still stock) for better air flow.

I would recommend being very patient and compiling a list of mods you want to do. Then research them to death before spending. Worst thing you can do is rush into buying things and have to spend money on the same thing twice. Have a look through the for sale section and maybe pick up some 2nd hand bits. That way if for example you buy an exhaust and you decide its too loud/ too quiet for your taste you can simply sell it for (in theory) the same price you bought it for.

Have a look through the forums. This question has been asked and answered many times. Have a serious think about your goals for the car and go shopping!

PS don't be too cheap with your mods. Do it once and do it right!

Thanks mate. Definitely going to try and build my knowledge base from here!

Theres alot to learn from these forums... ill give you advice from my personal experience. Just spent $5k on my car and the bottom end popped a few hours later. Don't make this mistake - make sure you thoroughly check the engine's health before you start modding up anything :)

First thing to do:

timing belt, water pump

Reason why?

Most imports have had their clock wound back, or clusters have been replaced

Then:

  1. Full exhaust (just get 2nd hand) ~$500
  2. Intercooler of some sort, even a R34 GT-t side mount $100
  3. Hit up Toshi for a socketed stock ECU with a new ROM tuned for AU 98 Octane fuel ~$350
  4. Turbotech MBC 0.8bar ~$30
  5. Fry tyres ~Priceless

Everybody loves frying tires :)

This times 1000!!! I spent about 20 grand on mine when I bought it. Thinking back now could of saved a lot of time and MONEY by researching more. I would of saved about 8 grand and over a year of time for a better result.

    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
