ichi-go
Hey all,Just after some advice on the below situationAfter putting in new wheels, just realised that the brake lines are rubbing on the wheels after a short drive, lucky found out before any disaster happenedLuckily the lines aren't leaking so only cosmetic damage as far as i can seeI've bent it slightly so it will clear but i'm not sure if this is the long term solution or if any hard braking is going to make the lines rub on the wheels againWas looking to loosen the rear caliper banjo bolt and adjust the lines facing down so it clears the wheels betterMy question here is, if i apply brake pressure and loosen the rear caliper banjo bolt, do i still need to bleed the brakes? Thanks all Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/435101-adjusting-brake-lines/ Share on other sites
scotty nm35
If you don't let any air in, you shouldn't need to bleed the system. I would though, as brake fluid needs to be bled regularly anyway. Looks like the lines weren't installed very well to begin with. 89CAL
You could make a bracket and p-clamp them away from the wheel. But probably easier to just loosen the fitting, turn it and tighten it back up in a better spot. Bleed brakes anyway, better to spend half an hour doing that then needing to stop and having no brakes Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/435101-adjusting-brake-lines/#findComment-7110581 Share on other sites
ichi-go
Cheers for the advice guys - yeah dont think i wanna take any chances, have a track day to attend this weekend so will probably do it after! I've lightly zip tie it to the handbrake cable for now just for a piece of mind but i have tested the car with hard braking and cornering and the line does not rub Yes - i'm not sure what my mechanic was thinking! Wasn't an issue with my 18s as there was heaps of room but instantly became a problem when i went 17s Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/435101-adjusting-brake-lines/#findComment-7111086 Share on other sites
