Are UHF radios illegal? Do you prefer to use a psychic link with the rest of the group to know where to turn off to get lunch?

Look I really mean no disrespect. But how about hands free, blue tooth head unit, satnav (GPS), shit even refedex????

I really feel sorry for all those that are entirely dependant upon technology these days. I don't even have a single GPS unit in any of my cars and I manage just fine.

UHF radios are fantastic and considering it will be Easter it surely is good to be prepared.

However, I am not going to shake in my boots just because there is blockade of angry QP officers that have to work on a Public holiday.

There is enough of that nonsense already.

Lets all enjoy the day and have fun..............sensible fun.

yes, I am old.

I really don't get it? What are you on about? Is there some rule against CB radios I haven't heard of?

Do I need to paint mine safety orange so the police don't mistake it for a firearm?

I would rather have a walkie-talkie in the car then have to do an illegal U-Turn because I wasn't in the correct lane and missed a turn off during a cruise.

I understand people talking about being too dependent on modern technology, but CB has been around since the 40s...

Edit: Oh, nvm, I get it now, if the police have seen smokey and the bandit, if they see you with a CB radio they will automatically assume you are helping a big rig smuggle moonshine across state lines... My bad, thank you for your concern.

If you really don't understand what I have written above, then I really feel for you.

For the record CB radios are not illegal AFAIK as long as you do not use a channel that interferes with a restricted one ie emergency frequency

The point I was making before is that CB radios are not mandatory and people can still meet and enjoy a cruise day without them.

And a god damn refedex will certainly help you make a LEGAL u turn in the event you are in the wrong lane and somehow get lost.

Do you understand that now?

Mate, what I understand, is that I asked a simple question, "Has anyone tried this radio?", I was seeking some simple consumer advice on a thread that mentions in its first post that CB radios are a 'requirement' if you have them - I have one, but it is shit, so I wanted a better one.

I did not ask for a lecture about why I should use a refedex so that I can sit in silence for hours at a time on a social trip, in my day people weren't so antisocial...

I have not used the supacheap auto radio you are referring.

I will also not be using one on the day

Should you feel insecure about not having one on the day I recommend you either do the following:

1. Don't come to the cruise without one for you're sake

2. Either seek medical help to overcome your fear of not having a quality UHF radio

Jesus Christ!

CB's are by no means a requirement and the simple fact that cheap hand held ones have a very poor range in the mountains means that you can't talk to cars more than about 100m away means. They are nice to have if you like a bit of banter and the odd helpful direction but by no means necessary.

CB Radios are great for banter and that's about it. Very rarely are they used for directions or anything remotely useful. The cheap Repco ones that mouse and I have are good for the two or three cars in either direction. Also, can't really use a mobile and headset set up as most won't have reception on the route.

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
