Noticed that one of the plugs off my headlights is connected to nothing! It's the small bulb between the corner lights and the main bulb closest to grille. I still have working main beam and high beam, as well as working park lights, so when are the small middle lights supposed to come on? The main beam and high beam use only the bulbs closest to grille.

Haven't had the car long and its still unregistered so just trying to nail this stuff down for rwc. No idea why these plugs are cut off or where they're supposed to go :|

Here's a picture of the bulb and plug in case my description is retarded.

Looks like a park light bulb to me.

From the outside in the order of your lights should be: Parkers are the 2 very outside ones (where indicators would normally be on most cars). Then the low beams, and then high beams closest to the grill.

Looks like the park light, but it doesnt belong where you have described

The Sedans dont have an extra light? You didnt say if yours was sedan or coupe but the 2 door 33's only have a park light, high beam and low beam in the headlight

it's a coupe sorry. From the outer edges in the parkers are there on the corners and working, then the mystery bulb that does nothing, then the main and high beam closest to grille. I agree that the bulb is so small it surely couldn't be anything to do with the main or high beam?

89cal the picture in your sig shows it I think, the section just visible in the bottom left - although mine are the diffused ones not nice clear lenses like yours :D

edit more relevant info: I just realised an s1.5 should have an s1 front end but mine has an s2 front. So I'm assuming this problem is because the previous owner converted it. Does that make any difference to the headlight wiring?

Apart from the obvious structural differences, the only wiring difference is when hooking up the indicator/fog light. They have a different connector to the series 1.5 harness's as it only has a indicator on the bumper in a series 1.5 without a fog light. Not an indicator/fog light like the series 2 so you have to chop and swap the plugs.
That being said you have a T10 wedge bulb fitted into the bulb holder in your picture and no r33 uses a wedge bulb for an indicator they all use bayonet bulbs, except the GTR. The bulb holder looks like the one on a GTR so it may have had the GTR indicators installed at a time.

R33 Series II Sedans have turning lights between the main headlights and the parking lights.

These are pretty cool and come on when you have the headlights on and turn on the indicators - only the light on the same side as the flashing indicator comes on.

I have never seen a Series II coupe with sedan headlights because the radiator support panel is different between sedans and coups in Series II. Coups have two H1 lights and sedans have one H4 and the back of the headlights are totally different and not interchangeable. This would imply that the car has had frontal damage at some time in the past and they have repaired it with sedan parts.

I would not worry about trying to make this light work because it is not required for rego and your coupe does not have the supporting wiring harness.

Ok cheers guys so at least my lights are operating as they should...sort of lol. I had a feeling the car had been hit at the front but the rails are straight so i figured it wasn't too drastic. The fog lights don't work either but I haven't even started looking at that problem.

So I guess the different rad support means that I cant ever change the headlights over to the nicer s2 coupe clear lenses then.

I had indicators and fog/driving lights in the bumper of my s1 front. All factory. Had the fog light switch on the stalk. There were some that came with both

Yeah series 1 came with fog lights and indicators but series 1.5 didn't come with it. If you put a series 1.5 into Nissan fast they they come as an accessory for them and it came with new indicators, a relay and a new stalk. OP maybe you want to check if you need the to put the relay into the fuse box? Im pretty sure there is a section provided to put a relay for fog lights

I never had a clue, that's pretty cool. But i never get calls to look sedan parts up anway

yeah there's no relay fitted for the fogs and I tried swapping the demister relay into that slot. I also don't have the factory switch on the indicator stalk. There is a random switch on the dash left of the steering wheel with a little green light on it (which doesn't light up) and seems to do nothing at all

I had to get a stalk and relay to get my 4door fogs to work and yeah the sedan has a turning light just like U13 Bluebirds do. It's a good idea.

Your fogs may or may not be usable. ie. not all of them have bulbs. Some are fakes and don't actually have anyway of putting a bulb in them.

(factory option) :/

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
