Ring And Pinion Gears

Hi All,

I believe my ring and pinion gears are shot (so I have been told) and am wondering if there are any strengthened options out there? What are people doing when theirs break?

No one uses strengthened ring and or pinion gears.

Nissan did a nice thing for us with the diffs.

Why are yours shot? Lack of oil and general abuse will also destroy better gears.

As above, the gears arent the weekpoint. The LSD centre might be old and need replacing but I've not heard of anyone using upgraded gears in the diff. Unless your planning crazy horsepower your better off just buying another diff to chuck in it

Yeah, I didn't think I recalled anything other than hearing people putting in LSDs. Thanks so much for getting back to me. Time for an LSD then. Any recommendations? OS Giken? ATS?

Nismo's seem to be rated well if your going to be driving it on the street. If its race use etc then any of the big name Japanese brands should be fine

Don't change the diff in a r32 GTR, Nissan were kind enough to give you a 2 way mechanical from the factory.

if you want it tighter, all you need to do is have a diff shop add some shims
