Neo25De With Det Head

Recommended Posts

Hey, Just wondering I have a non turbo, auto r34 skyline and am going to do a De+t, now I know people generally dont think its a good idea but Im doing it anyway so constructive advice is welcome. I already have a det auto gearbox, yes its staying auto for certain purposes, my question is will the det gearbox mount to the box without any crazy modification. Also can I put a Det neo head on the existing de block, torque it down and run standard Det intake and exhaust gear, low boost (yeah I know about the De pistons) something like a nistune, will it after a tune run okay enough to daily? If I dont go high psi I wont blow it up? And Yes brakes and suspension will be done.

Thanks

I know its going to be saying something that you note as having already considered. But that you are considering it (a DE+T and with head transplant to boot) im sure you must not have considered all the elements associated with it...

Please keep reading about the cons of a DE+T until you have realised its not worth it.

Otherwise, on a positive angle, if it is about the enjoyment of working on cars and making them better then consider getting a cheap GTS-T and modifying it. If you are doing a lot of the work yourself then this will also be an enjoyable process and also one that doesn't have to be too expensive...

Yeah I know that it can blow up however I have a mate who has done it before and ran 18psi that runs fine and hasnt blown up yet, which is a good sign however he didnt change heads which was what I was wondering about thanks.

I have done this as I had a bit of a oopsy with the old head. I have to say, it is not 'cheap' :) but it does work. I'll post up after first start and let you know how it goes. It does retain high compression, which is great for e85 applications, not so good for unleaded.

I would have thought the gearboxes were the same so no need to change. You should be fine so long as you know its all in the tune - make sure you get a good RB experienced tuner. You should probably (don't know for sure) get an auto DET ecu with a Nistune chip ...but if you run an aftermarket boost controller the loom should probably be ok,
