Nissan Tuner In Melb To Work On Murano..yep Check It...

Recommended Posts

Well Iv'e not been on this forum for a long time..so its about time I rekon...

I had a lot of imports in the past but I currently have a Murano (see pic) that is close to being a very nice car..but is proving tricky to get the way I want it..

As you will spot from the pics..it has 20 inch wheels and has been lowered...(more on that later in the post)..

I am wondering if anyone has any info on a "Nissan guru"..(hopefully in the west/north)...that could do some work on her?

The Murano has the 3.5 litre engine that I think is common to a lot of other Nissan's.. Basically runs fine but has some weird fault..plant the foot..and she splutters and hesitates..do it three or four times and it seems to "clear out"...

Its an odd car and the CVT can be strange..particularly in the city where the car feels like a manual taking off in 4 gear..and typically doesn't go over 2 thousand revs's...but..on the open road..with the trans in manual mode...she has quite a lot to offer...so..thinking that If I can get some tuning done and perhaps some exhaust mods..that it will be a great ride...please let me know if you can recommend anyone.

The other issue is the suspension..car is currently on Kings springs with KYB shocks/struts. I had a set of Yellow speed coil overs at one point but after 4 or 5 return visits to my suspension guys...they were replaced...as we couldn't get the coil overs to adjust to anywhere near a decent ride..The kings/KYB set up is still B grade and I'm looking for an alternative..not too easy to find for a Murano..it looks ok but the initial shock absorption is rubbish..again any info would be appreciated..

I'm not in Melbourne and don't know any tuners, but for the spluttering have you checked your plugs? Sounds a lot like its missing which would cause a cylinder or two to not fire when its their turn. Can be regularly and cheaply fixed with a new set of plugs.

Thats about all I have to offer. :(

EDIT: Welcome back!

Vq35s are known to have failing cam and crank sensors. That can manifest itself as what you described, but also being hard to start.

NFI about the CVT I'm afraid.

Your nearest VQ specialist is Scotty nm35 on the forums here. What he doesn't know about VQs isn't worth knowing. Get him to put it on his consult clone and see if any error codes come up.

Thanks Alex. :)

Definitely no need for a tuner, you want to get this issue sorted before taking it anywhere for mods.

It sounds like you may have a faulty AFM if there is no engine lamp up on the dash.

Thanks for the replies..

I should have mentioned... that I did have the plugs/coilpacks replaced...and then a faulty injector..I was pretty sure (and so was the mechanic) that this would solve the issue..but it didnt..and it seems worse in the cold weather..

But these made no change...nd it still runs rough when cold..once warm.. it runs ok..but will splutter and hesitate when "kicked in the guts"..but seems to come good after a few good "squirts"...it only seem to do it under load as well..if I stop and rev the engine it sounds fine..

One other thing I notice is that the Murano seems to rev quite low when started..unlike most every other car Ive owned that revs higher for a while until they warm up..could this also indicate a faulty AFM?

Cheers.

More likely the throttle is a little dirty, but I wouldn't go cleaning it, I would just do a throttle re-learn.

The splutter/hesitation is the fuel mixture being out, I wouldn't be booting it until you have sorted that.
