Yeah did a oil change Saturday. Had done 7000 so will change at 5000 now religiously it disappeared at idle after the change and is only 2800-3200 on no6 under gentle acceleration in second? Rattle rattle - gone? No noise with 6 coil pack disconnected! Weird.

how loud is it?

not sure if you can use an oil flush to get the gunk out... they arent too bad to clean apart from having to get them out. there are also a couple different varieties on our engines. look the same externally but different sizing internally

Haven't pulled the cam cover but goes away with no 6 H.t. Disconnected? So I would assume a cam lifter follower issue? Seeing as its on the exhaust side?

may sound like a dumb idea when your so confident of where the noise is buuuuuuuuutttt.......

its not an exhaust leak at the back?

Can only pick up the rattle in 2nd gear under mild acceleration?

U should have a lisren to my engine, rattles at idle (suspect the turbo may well be dying lol) about 3k its got a ting ting noise and at the top it sounds like a big ol straight six on heat ?

Wouldnt be lifter, weather u disconect the coil or not it the lifters gonna do its job. However, if u disconnect the coil and it goes away ur taking the combustion away from that cyclinder. So id be looking for a leaky manifold around nunber 6 or anything in general todo with number 6

Yeah i panicked at first thinking ouch turbo, bearings, piston slap, gudgeon pin, big end knock etc. but can fully pinpoint the sound to no6 rear exhaust cam cover at only that tiny rev range. Will sus it out better on the w/end? Might need a real mechanic! Would assume tig welding it won't help!

Will suss it out better Saturday. Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it. It will give me a better starting point for trouble shooting. Never owned or worked on a car with a turbo or the cam shaft/s in the right spot except the last 8 months. Show us your v8's. She's running absolutely trick except for that! My wife and jack recond the noise is in my head! What noise! (perhaps the loony bin would be a better fix?) done all the turbo/dump pipe studs gaskets etc. So will check the manifold.
when you drive something often enough you can hear noises before anyone else or before it becomes a problem

Spent 3 months of weekends when I got it fixing rattles blips blurts knocks and bumps! Only drive her on w/ends. The captain always goes down with his ship. Then emerges with less money and More power!

I remember having issues with the escort (when I was 18) flushed and cleaned everything new radiator, heater core, plugs points gaskets leads jets etc. I was putting a new head gasket on when dad came out and wiggled the no.4 piston with his hand. Think I found your problem mate! Sell it now.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
