Car is completely stock, has Nismo exhaust and front pipes but standard dumps :(

So that's what... another 10k in mods to get it to 300+rwkw?

Maybe not that bad given I can do the labour myself - not the tuning.

EDIT: Looks like prices have changed a bit and it's not that expensive to get 300-330 on 98.

-7 or -5s
Injectors, Fuel pump, Cam gears
Cams not necessary but would help (and sound lovely)

PFC and tune
Full exhaust, some conjecture on 3 or 4"
AFMs

Standard intercooler and airbox fine.

Speaking to the salesman, not good.

"With the vehicle itself the price is fixed we are not discounting the vehicle so it’s probably not the vehicle for you in that case.

To buy this vehicle at today’s exchange rate it would be even more expensive."

"
Irreplaceable for that money."

I'm trying to get parts thrown in, anything.

I've just sent one final email to say is there absolutely no room for negotiation in this?

As much as I love the car, when you seen fairly nice examples around for 55k (white) with a built motor, 59k more or less for a stocker (even a nice VS2) seems a bit expensive for my budget.

This SAUWA R34 for $55K ~ was always my Benchmark for pricing, to date i still think it was the best value R34 to sell in recent years

http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/446039-r34-gtr-v-spec-5a-import/

Other solid buys to memory are (forgive me if the values are off, these are listed prices;

Matt's KING87's GTR $55k ~ with genuine Z-Tune guards/bonnet, 6-pot Brembos, Mines piping - http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/146573-r34splease/page-149

and Tangomatt's GTR - $90K ~ ~ with Everything, basically a 1/3 price Z-Tune with more - http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/287693-racepace-built-r34-gtr-nur-rb28-v-cam/page-1

Another soild one was this Black V-Spec with HKS V-Cam pushing 340awkw for $65K ~ - http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/401854-fs-r34-gtr-v-spec-with-hks-v-cam-ex-tpg34r/

The missus was not pleased about the prospect of a 55k car that still needs another 5-7k spent and won't see much track time lol

She was more OK with the idea of 55k finished and I would actually use it a few times a year on track.

With that VS2 I'd be reluctant to go harder than 7/10s I think...

I want it all for 55 lol

Vspec2 all the bolt ons etc.

The reality is that doesn't seem to exist.

The other issue I have is being jaded by the QLD car.

Now having a harder time justifying that kind of coin for a 15yr old car.

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
