Series 1 And Series 2 Rb25det Cams

Hey guys just wondering if the series 1 factory cams will bolt up into a series 2 rb25det head or vice versa. Need to get another head but don't know if there is a difference between the two

Yeah I did this as I blew my s1 head up and only had a s2 replacement. They fit in there fine, have pulled the caps off after running for a while and there's no scoring or anything so I'm going to say thats ok to do that. The CAS is interchangeable as well (I think its the neo's that change?) but you will need s2 coil packs or vice versa as they bolt into the head differently but I think you can get away with changing the cradles instead as only like 2 bolts don't line up...

Not sure, but I thought that the late S2 was different so the '97-98's. Something to be aware of anyway. I know that the later CAS won't fit the earlier versions.

I believe the only difference is the CAS engagement. I think I looked into it a while ago because I wanted to upgrade the CAS to the Hitachi type. As long as you get the late R33 RB25 cam, it still runs hydraulic lifters, where as the NEO one runs the Hitachi CAS but solid lifters.

As above, its only the late R33's that this applies to, Early series 2's still ran the old style CAS. If you look at the catalog of Tomei cams, you see there is one for a 2 year range of R33's around 97-98
