Who do I go to? I own a 350Z track and am interested in modding the "company" car

I know there are no workshops that specialise in the VQ35DE around, hell the few I have talked to won't even touch them as they haven't worked on them before. I am looking for a list of non dodgy workshops in Canberra that work on imports. Any suggestions would be greately appreciated.

Nah, i don't think so.

They do charge an arm and a leg, and i personally wouldn't take my car there.

What are you after?

If it's just an Exhaust/CAI/Chip, most anyplace can do it, and the mechanic a few of us use cannot be more highly recommended. Also there is someone in Belconnen who comes with great feedback. Check out the Places to get my Skyline Services thread at the op of this forum for some good places.

If you are thinking about what we spoke of a while ago, that being the Supercharger idea, Sydney is only 2 and a bit hours away.

well then id say go to roadway in belco for your exhaust, but im not sure on what type of zorst u want? but they do good work so they r worth a look, and for getting it tuned then id go to Jakes performance, he's a guru apparently.

in the mean time are you planning any body mods? i'd like to see a nice set of 19's on urs!!!

MING is absolute crap. [no wonder they changed their name] too my car there once , and stupid enough to take it there again. The old man Pat watches as they apprentices do all the work. I needed to sent him a 20page letter with technical info on why the spark plugs he put in my car were the wrong ones, plus other things.... Now I know my car better, I vow not to get ripped off by wankers like that again.

What did ming used to be called?

I think most shops in Canberra (and Aus. for that matter) have people who have had probs. with them bad mouthing them. If you're only doing minor mods, exhaust, cold air, there's not to much to worry about. Do plugs and servicing stuff yourself, then you don't have to worry about someone getting the basics wrong.

MING is now called DTS. [went past to show a mate where NOt to take his car a cpl of days ago]

and im not just talking about plugs..... installation and tuning of unichip , exhaust, and THEN minor things.

while your car is there it 'just happens' to have EVERYTHING fail on it, therefore they keep it for a couple more days [instead of the quoted and normal standard of a few hours] and charge you for it [the three occasions I had my car there, all three times my car had a heart attack apparently, and they were just the docotrs to fix it.. funny how I drove it there in perfect running order]. A $250 tune they attempted to take over $700 from me. After expressing Ill only pay $250 as they made a verbal contract with me stating thats how much a tune will cost, they didnt complain when thats all the money I sent. Now what does that say? Did they knew they were trying to rip me off and got caught...Id say yes, or Im sure they would of pursued the rest.

IF MING did the job they were suppose to, I would of happliy paid the full amount. But the fact they gave me my car back with over 35kw less because they couldnt find out why it was leaning out, hence de-tuned it, and when I suggested Ill buy a bigger fuel pump to accomodate they told me I was stupid and fuelling wasnt the issue, 'but leave it with us for a couple more days' [bought myself an uprated fuel pump, installed it, problem solved] Basic science, I had more air therefore I needed more fuel.. simple combustion. But anything thats not straight out the APS [unichip] handbook, Pat and his gimps find a little bit too complex.

Now my exhaust.... little apprentice boy welded a 2.25in flex onto my 3in system, no wonder my exhaust twisted and snapped under the dump [lets not talk about the potential restriction issue] ....little apprentice boy also angle-grinded my exhaust brace off [who knows why] and solid mounted my front exhaust to my chassis. little apprentice boy then proceeded to change all my back rubber hangers to longer ones, so my muffler swings like crazy and knocks/vibrated on my rear diff, and all I wanted was a 3in cat installed.

Ming quoted me $300-400 to remove my Unichip. I went there for a laugh just to see how out they are with the real world.

This was after I spoke to APS in Melbourne. They said, take it to any Unichip dealer, should only take 1 hour to do (max). So 1 hour labour = ~$80

Peter from Autotech wanted ~$80

Jake from Jakes Performance wanted ~$70

Nigel from Ice Performance in Melbourne did it for less than $45 :)

So the moral of the story is, go to Ming, for a laugh :D:) :) :)

I agree on the whole "Ming thing":it's a no-go zone for most anyone I've talked to...So,now that we've bagged the hell outta the bad guys, lets hear a shout for one of the good guys: Ed at Integra Automotive on Lanyon Drive,Queanbeyan. Rated! One of the most knowledgable and modest guys I've had the pleasure of dealing with.I know there are lots of others out there that'll agree. He's put together some pretty impressive cars and he's the guy that I trust completely with my pride'n'joy!Do yourself a favour-go and say G'day!

    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
    • We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.
