I really can't say - nothing to compare it to other than the stock ECU - It just sits there and works - (no hand controller).

The car idles, no flat spots, seems easy to tune (I don't touch it though cause I have NFI)

I don't know too many other people using the Stinger on their Skylines - JulianGST from these forums does and he is happy -

One thing I did notice with both our cars (saw this happen to Julian at EC), is that when you dump it - lots of black smoke from the exhaust. I understand this indicates richness, which is a good thing, but the cars behind me may not appreciate it...... he he

I might think about changing the EMS after the engine rebuild, but I want to speak to a few more people & do a bit more research first,

have you got a blow off valve that vents to the atmosphere? cos if you are still running airflow meters then you'll get a plume of black smoke on gear changes as you get a rich injection of fuel as it delivers fuel based on the air the AFM has measured and half of it has been released through the bov. Another reason could be that the air/fuel ratio's get richer as you go up the rev range... a good tune to even it all out will fix that.

yeah, thought about that Joel and is a good option - but for some strange reason - I feel compelled to keep the original engine number ?? Dunno why maybe cause i don't want to go through blue slip process again (after the one it went though at time of import) - I will think about this some more though....

Can you link to the RB30E guide you mentioned ??

Cheers,

GiJOr33,

The EMS doesn't use AFM - THe BOV used to vent to atmosphere, but I got it change to plumback now cause I hated the noise (drew too much attention) and I wanted it be legal.

INASNT,

They are stock injectors high flowed to 610cc - I understand that the flow tests were documented, but I never saw the paperwork - So that's why I wanna get them tested again - to be sure, to be sure.

Also I have heard good and bad things about High Flowing injectors (retrespective to my mods being done) - If I get the results back and the flow and spray pattern (don't know if they can test this) are OK, I will re-use them - If not, I'll be up for new injectors & prolly rail with the rebuild. I'm hoping they will be OK. If not, then It may be one explanation for my little problem.

I wanna get it 200% right

Cheers,

I have an EMS (not the stinger though) in my skyline and it runs well. I have only had a few problems with it stalling on back off with the aircon on, but that is cause it doesn't currently have a separate tune for the a/c. It is also a bit to do with my large throttle body.

Jeff.

i am most probably getting sard 500cc side feeds for mine. They are around $125 each from greenline at the moment. How much did the high flowing cost u?

Not sure about cost as I got a package deal.

I understand the sard ones will need a new fuel rail and maybe some sort of adapter for them to fit ??? Not sure tho.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
