stock gtr wheels are 16x8", so widest legal wheel is 7".

AFAIK there's no rule about how wide the tyres are.

I am a bit confused with your response. If standards are 8 inch why would max legal be 7 inch. Also, this does not answer my question anyway. I want to know what the widest tyres (225, 235, 245, 265 etc) I can LEGALLY put on the GTR's 8 inch rims. I want to put 245/55/16's on all 4 rims.

Max is around 255.

It also depends on the profile of the tyre.

Do some googling for the usual bridgestones, yoko's etc.

I think you will find you will be pushed to find a 55 series 245 16" tyre.

The whole reason that I am asking is that I can definitely get 245/55/16 Michelins. I just want to know if they are going to be legal.

i heard something about rolling diameter cannot be more than 1inch taller than the std measurement. if you can measure up a stock 32gtr tyre then measure these 245/55's you can get and see how much taller it is.

my 2c: 245 is not a wide tyre on a gtr, and looks comfortable on an 8inch rim. Even if it is a bit tall, theres no way your gonna get pulled up for it. If you like these michelins then get em.

Sorry, I can't count, of course if its 8" stock you can go to 9" wide.

AFAIK there is no law about the width of tyres, only the width of the rim....so there is no "legal" max width for tyres.

As mentioned about you don't want the diameter of wheel + tyre to be larger either, but just pick the right profile and it will be OK

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
