Hi guys, trying to suss out the Bluetooth in my car but it seems something is wrong with it.

when I go to pair my phone, my-car does not appear on the pairing screen or my phone. You can see what I mean in the images attached it says “*”, when it should be saying “my-car”.

Any help appreciated

I had no idea our vehicles had a "root" button. To think all this time I was paying for it!

Anyway, on a serious note, it seems that the Bluetooth ID of your vehicle has been overwritten by the previous owner (or yourself when sifting through the various settings). You can change that name again though I'm struggling to remember which submenu option it was in the Bluetooth menu. I'll get back to you on that.

Yes pretty much you are looking for * in the bluetooth pairing on your phone..

I have also attached the instructions for the V36 audio that I think you were looking for.

Ahh okay, so must be a different problem then as I’m not seeing * pop up on my phones Bluetooth. Could it be because I’m using iPhone X? I seen somewhere that later model phones don’t pair with skylines system.

Damn I got no other phone atm. Would you have any idea why my bluetooth would not be appearing? I've followed the guide setting passcode, entering my phone number etc but no success. Here’s what my Bluetooth info looks like, anything look wrong there?

I suspect the asterisk for the Bluetooth name is an illegal character for Apple perhaps. I still haven't had the chance to go through the menus and determine where you can change the name back to my-car or whatever else you want to call it but that would be the first place I'd look for troubleshooting.

I had an iPX and it was connecting fine for me. I'll try tonight with my iP12 and see if it still works. I gave up with BT audio since it sounded so eh.

    • What Duncan said sounds right. Also, it looks like they only have the driver's mat. Not the rest. Because looking at the diagram: KG4911 is just the mat for the driver. KG4900 is the full set if I'm not mistaken and discontinued.   But, it looks like they may still have the full set for the manual S2. Might be worth checking for the other models as well as they seem slightly different. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/misc/G49 Man, I'm tempted.
    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
