Since 32 GTR front end parts are not on Nissan heritage yet and genuine second hand are going for drug money as a result, I'm looking into fibreglass, but OEM style, guards and bonnet for the rally car

Any suggestions on suppliers with reasonable quality, preferably NSW/ACT?

Nobody makes anything decent mate. JSAI may be your best chance in terms of fitment, but it's all still made with swimming pool materials.

I've got a 32R bonnet mould, so I could make you a good quality bonnet, but I'm in WA so I'd be scared to look at the freight quote.

Thanks, I'll talk to Just Jap about the JSAI stuff.  In this case i am looking for OK/not crap but I don't really need it to be good because it is kind of sacrificial.

And thanks for the offer on something made properly :) like you said I assume the freight would be a killer, same possibly even worse for guards with their shape

Nah.... buy a 65" TV from Kogan et al and shipping is only a small amount of money. Boxes the size of front guards are shipped around all the time. Even the bonnet might not be quite as bad as you expect. I mean.....if you (or say, I, because then there is defo shipping from Syd/Mel to me in SA) buy a JSAI bonnet from JustJap, or Seibon, the freight on that is unpleasant, but not excruciating - not compared to the cost of the bonnet, anyway. A box with a pair of seats from east coast to SA/WA is only a hundred bucks or so.

Yes, but as I'm sure you're aware, freight companies work on accounts with their clients. A massive company like Kogan shipping massive volumes all around the country are going to get a better deal per CBM than a company like JustJap who just aren't shipping as much volume. And certainly for a business like mine where 99% of my market is local, I won't get any sort of deal on shipping a bonnet across the country, and I haven't got the leverage to say 'give me a better price or I'm going with someone else'.

I've priced up freight on full size panels for Eastern States clients before, but not since Covid. Back in 2018, it would have cost roughly $1500 to transport an R34 bonnet that only weighed 3kg from here to Melbourne. Cost of the bonnet was $2200, so the freight was not an insignificant part of that. Since Covid, freight prices per CBM have doubled.

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
