hey guys just a question, im plannin on upgrading my turbo shortly but i cant decide which one, its between the;

Garret GT30/40 or the Trust TD06H-25G

from searchin around i found that both of these applications have made round or just a lil over 300rwkw, i know bit more about the gt30/40 with prices and specs etc, can anyone tell me anythin bout the tdo6 i been searchin but cant find much detailed info...

which one would be the wiser pick?

problems and advantages with both?

value for money? etc

any comments appreciated, im just a lil confused to which one...

cheers...ben.

Go the 30/40 cheaper to buy brand new and easy to repair if it fails.

I would have said exactly the opposite. If the 30/40 garret you are talking about is ball bearing then it will be bloody expensive to repair if it fails. Where as the Trust turbo can be completely rebuilt for around $700 - to the original specs... to replace the core in a bb turbo can cost in excess of $1500...

If you buy new you wont have an issue with the core needing to be rebuilt anytime soon. The $$ you save on these to a hks/trust new you can rebuilt and still be ahead in the future :)

If you are going Garret 30/40 i dont know

But if you are comparing HKS 3040 with Trust TD06-25G 10cm^2 then id say definitely go the Trust setup. There is one for sale now in the For Sale section that is a good buy....if you were saying HKS 3037S vs TD06-25G id be back sitting on the fence :)

do u have the support system for such turbo eg...fmic,comp,exhaust,injectors etc......

what is the car mainly used for??? decide what is a realistic power figure u want to achieve?? both turbs on an rb25 will see between 300-350rwkw.....

if u have the option of choosing from brand new off a catalogue i take it u have considered the wastegate + mainfold cause both turbos wont work on a standard manifold.....then ur looking at probably $5000 mark for a turbo kit......ive noticed ur 19 as well..so whatever ur doing for $$... i want in :)

yer i was aimin round the 300rwkw area, i already have FMIC, full exhaust, injectors and power fc are on there way from nengun...

all i need is a bigger fuel pump and reg. then just have to decide which turbo, i think i will go with the garret gt30/40 since its local, UAS have the gt30/40 kit (turbo, manifold, oil/ water lines) for $4545, the wastegate is a 38mm one which i thought id be better havin like a 45mm one so add bit more onto the price for that...fuel pump and reg. $500...

so like u said about 5g's plus fitting and tuning...i been planin this for a while so i dont make any mistakes n shit all i had to decide was on the turbo...

cheers...ben.

ive just seen from http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/cat...ategory50_1.htm

they have the gt35 kit which has manifold, turbo and lines

PSR 45mm wastegate-This Kit is also offered with a Turbosmart 45mm Wastegate for an extra $150. ..

this "PSR" are they any good is it worth spendin the extra $150 for turbo smart? if not then id rather put that money towards say the fuel pres. reg.

cheers...ben.

I'd be wary of buying any kit without knowing definites on what precisely you are buying. Manifold can vary things quite dramatically, by as much as 1500rpm+ later spoolup and poor response. Turbo, you want to know exactly what comp + turbine you are getting - there are so many different combinations on "3040" not all of them are going to work at their optimum on your project.

Cheapest option for 300rwkw is to get DJLethal's 25G setup, not many setups will hold a candle to that. Guaranteed easy 11's once you sort out your traction issues...

My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
    • Thanks mate, well done to you too! Yeah not looking forward to doing any major work to it!
