Hey guys,

I'm halfway through my 26 build, and have started contemplating whether to swap my 33gtst for a gts4 and have 4wd.  I know the gts4 26 swap is easy compared to going in a 33 gtst, but the gts4 will have its own headaches, changing all the brakes from 4 to 5pot.  Which one would be more of a pain? I'm assuming the 33gtst but would love other opinions from people that have done it!!

And future worth wise, would a factory gtst manual turbo with a 26 in it be worth more than a gts4 manual with a 26..?  I just know, once I do this, noone will really know the history of the car :/..  was also thinking about swapping this for a gtr shell but I need to get the fk out of fairy land..  still there.

either car will be worth more unmodified, with it's original engine. The skyline world has changed a lot in the last 5 years.

I don't think an rb26 swap into a 33 gtst is a good choice....very expensive way to go compared to just building an rb25 that does whatever you want it to do. If you want to change something an rb30 is a better starting place, with rb25 head on it.

True, but OP doesn't have one of those heads sitting in the engine bay

I did have the chance to get a tomei solid conversion kit for 1400 and was going to put the gtr intake on the 25 head (didnt want to use adapter so abit of fab works was needed) but then people were saying just put the gtr head on it..

so I was going to go that way, but already having it all sitting there made me think, just put a whole 26 in it. not a bits and pieces thing.. at least this way ill have a complete 25det to sell or throw in something silly :)

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
