I recently managed to get a set of F40 Calipers, Brackets and 2 piece disks for a bargain price but I have a few questions about them & they seem more commonly used in Australia than the UK :)

I need a pair of pad retainer clips, any ideas on locating a set? are they the same as any other Brembos?

My kit came with 330MM disks, I have read that the F40 kit goes up to the 365mm disks? is it a case of just buying the bigger disks or does it need different bracketry?

What brake lines do you use with the kit? Would OEM work or do I need custom lines?

Thanks :)

Hi Ian,

A quick google came up with these pins
https://www.lpiracing.com/store/pc/Brembo-Guide-Pin-F40-F50-Caliper-Sold-Each-takes-2-per-caliper-p85055.htm

I have found there's a few different retaining clips for the brembo's similar to this or with a r clip

If you upgrade the disk size it will require new brackets to space the caliper out further.

For brake lines measure the thread in the brembo brake fitting and check against what you currently have. Can generally get a local brake shop to make custom lines or see if HEL do a set

thanks for that :)

The issue I have with the brake lines is that I don't currently have any! I bought the car as a rolling shell and it came without brakes so I have nothing to compare with.

I'll probably just buy a couple of fittings and see which ones fit but was hoping someone may know to save me some time :)

Well, FWIW , it will be the same length and car end fitting as any R34 brake line. At the caliper end it will either be a banjo that seals on the caliper face with a copper washer, or a flared fitting that seals on a matching flare surface inside the caliper. If you can't tell which it is just put up a good pic and we can try and check.

For anyone wondering :)

Stock lines work, using my GKTech ABS delete kit lines and they fit.

The only place that advertises they sell the pins and retainers are LPI above & they don't ship outside of the US. All other Brembo suppliers I reached out to either ignored me or couldn't get them. Found a set on Ali Express (Don't judge!) so will try them and see

Further update.

Ali Express parts didn't fit, retainer clip was too short.

Spoke to local Ferrari dealer, They sourced them within a couple of days for me & perfect fit :) Cheaper than LPI too!

Genuinely amazed by this haha. nice one

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
