Hey

I was driving my R32 GTR and I got held up in some trafic, I was idling at 1k and noticed my oil presure gauge sitting on 0. I thought to myself "FU*K", wtf is going on. When I slowly started to move it would slowly climb up, but the back to 0 when I came to a stop. When we started to move again and we got going, the gauge would sit normal, about 2. When I came to a stop again the gauge went to about 1 and stayed there this time. When I got home it was reading normal still, I got out of the car and looked under, I found no oil on the ground.

Can anyone tell me WTF this is or whats making this happen?

Thanks

did you have any trouble accellerating? revs were fluctuating and dropping at all?

i had a similar problem with my engine, turned out the radiator had ran dry of water (the cap was faulty), so check your radiator and fill her up if she's dry.

this might not be the case, but have a check anyhoo

Hey

Radiator is full

My revs are fine when driving but when I slow down they go to 0 and back to 1, sometimes it stalls, I asked my tunner and he said its something to do with my BOVs. But I havent asked my tunner about this as he is closed, so im trying to get my answer on SAU.

i would get mechanical oil pressure guage, and check it against that, they are only about 50 bux from supercrap or something....im not saying put a cheap ass guage in your gt-r im saying use it to see if yours is out, or your oil pump is sha99ed.....if at all possible have them hooked up at the same time to see any discrepancies(sp?) in readout.

Idle prob:

Have you had your throttle body off at all? ever?

Also could be ilde circuit faulty making revs jump around.

Or the speedo? :headspin:

I experience the same thing in my 32 GTS-t... it will sit REALLY low (not quite on 0) on the oil pressure guage, and then climb to slightly above 1/4 when driving around... i don't think i've ever see it go over 3/8th (between 1/4 and 1/2) on the guage... i'm hoping its just a faulty sender, not a shagged pump or something

Dont trust the reading of the stock oil pressure gauge.

I had a similiar prob when i had my idle issues with my sard 550cc injectors. Everytime the car would go into spastic idle and go back to normal idle the oil pressure gauge used to just go to 0 and sit there and sit there for ages till i turned the car off and on again, but the oil pressure was normal while the gauge said 0 pressure everytime.

The stock gauge is also said to be very slow reacting to a proper electronic oil pressue gauge.

Hey

I restarted the car later that night when it was just warm, and let it idle for 10-15min or so and the oil gauge sat on 2. When it was on 0 it would slowly climb when i reved it and moved a bit but then it droped back to 0, after the traffic cleared and I got going it was ok, when I came to a stop again it sat on 1 and didnt go to 0 again.

I didnt hear and werid sounds from the engine or anything.

My Revs are a diff matter I think, car idles at 1k and drives normal etc, when I slow down tho the revs dont stop at 1k again it goes all the way to 0 batt light flashers and then it comes back up to 1k again, somethimes it stalls. I am told this matter is something to do with the BOVs. Never use to happen and I was running 2 hks bovs and the stock pair (4 BOVs, Stocks sealed) I removed the stock ones as I was told it was for the best and now the revs do that. Pain in the ass it is, but thats not my may concern atm, the oil presure is and im pritty sure its the sender.

Thanks

Got the same prob too in a 32 GTST. Oil pressure drops to zero (and the red low pressure light comes on) when I come to a stop, then picks up when I start moving again. Occasionally stalled too.

But I had a few oil leaks in the steering rack, sump, etc. Mechanic fixed that up the other day and hopefully that should fix it up.

Who ever told you to remove the stock gtr bov's is an idiot. Put the stock gtr bov's back on as they have been used on gtr's and supras with over 500kw@wheels withput any problems.

Damn, I was told by a few ppl to remove them. Damn its always my luck and I sold them tooo :) might have to get me another pair. Will R33 or R34 GTR ones fit just incase thats all I can find??

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
