Yeah me too. I guess the major issue is the intrusion bars. Perhaps you could ask to see the bars before they are installed or perhaps ask to see a previous customers car? That may put your mind at ease a little.

No point paying more for something if it's actually not any better than the cheaper alternative :)

omg nark. as i said on the NS forums - its an issue when you wake up in hospital minus a leg cos the intrusion bars only just passed law or they weren't installed.

Also the legal system is only for people with money... you should know that :P

JK sounds like he's gettin a good deal but yea I got quoted the same price as ceffo at another shop. The guy says $250/door is cheap considering the whole thing has to be dissassembled as to remove the chance of the window being damaged by welding. Now I don't know if someone has figured out a better way, or if this guy was talking it up.. but still when the difference is almost 50% on price it seems questions should be asked :D

jsut got mine done for $1100 :P keep in mind a cefiro has 2 more doors than a silvia. $20 extra for blue slip (or roadworthy certificate in VIC).

Also in VIC its optional to have child restraints, whereas in NSW its compulsory. Compliance rules vary from state to state.

$1000 dollars it will be for me. A mate's silvia was 700 to 800, the laurel has two extra doors so yeah. John from import bitz did break down the parts listing, think it went something like intrusion bars, unleaded neck filler, child restraint points, changing the mirror from convex to flat or something.

did anyone else get the option of truck signal lights and brake lights? my compliancer told me that the indicators and brake lights did not meet ADR's so he temporarily wired up truck lights to it to get it complianced :) needless to say they look like a young lass's nipples on a cold winter day.

Strange, i had my car (ceffy) complied around early June of this year...

All i had to have done for compliance was Chassis number punched in, Child restraint points, Fuel filler, and Driver's side mirror changed to ADR,

i had no trouble with side intrusion bars or anything like that, does this mean I'm going to hell?

Have the rules changed again so as not to harm our precious automotive industry?

The rules changed after Eps bought his car in. The laws changed before I got mine. Simple. I have to do side intrusions now. I dont know why then other cars dont need to. Its crazy, I could have bought 1 Cefiro one day and it would have been fine without intrusions and the next day I would have another and needed them... its a stupid regulation, but it has to be done.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
