Tosh whilst you know how much a trackday costs, he may not know or have anyone to go with. If I was him and I read some of the posts in here I would have no intention of joining the club or attending any events

yes we have finally been able to organise a trackday with a few morning sessions dedicated to helping out new guys to the track.

we have also had Adam write a fantastic article to encourage more people to get they're fix there and also ease the concerns that alot of us had (have) about the first time on the track, which was mailed to every club member and I'm happy to organise to have it posted here in PDF format for anyone who wants to read it. or perhaps Adam has a copy of it he can post up for us.

agreed red!! it can cost so much more when you break the law! I already know this! its just alot of people don't... and they won't know or realise until they taste it for themselves! you can tell a child not to touch something hot... they won't listen till they realise it burns for themselves! I'm sure jnr is not proud of what he has done.. he just wants to know what to expect.

And i'm sure alot of other people would be interested in hearing about track days... but not everyone is a member of sau... so how are they meant to know what happens around them? I've only seen two track events come through the public area of the forums recently... maybe there has been more that i haven't seen! And this whole team track day thing... i've hardly seen any adverts for them! i don't even know what it is... still!!

Now all of you speed hounds join Team Trackday by coming out to the track ;) hehe

fcuk me

if you notice the :D and "hehe", it was a fairly jokey comment that I made.

let me clarify EXACTLY what I meant by it.

The best place to speed is on the race track. It is relatively inexpensive to get to a wakefield open day and the track itself is wide and very beginner friendly.

Team Trackday is a group of SAU guys who regularly attend track events who just decided to give themselves a name FOR FUN. It's not serious, it's not official.

and about track events not coming through a public forum....

I just looked through all trackday thread since late July in the PUBLIC events forum and found these.

5 of them.... people who aren't member's of the club have been able to see these in a public area

1st one is legal and you are less likely to damage your car, it gets my vote. :D

i don't know if Merli would be saying the same thing after he broke his engine on a race track ;)

i heard a quote once, one hot lap on a race track does the equivalent wear and tear to about 5,000 road km's....dunno the justification of this quote so take it with a grain of salt, but i know my oil temps can reach in excess of 130 degrees and i've never gone over 100 on the road or through the national park :D

just here to stir, continue on :D

hahaha if thats true its no wonder my rb25det wore out, it had done 30days * 8sessions * 10laps * 5,000 = 12,000,000klm

I guess the point is the track is the place to speed not the roads. Sure it costs money on a track but you are unlikely to kill an old lady crossing the road.

But the bottom line is as a high profile public car forum we can't really afford to have threads saying speeding is OK, A Current Affair would be doing a story on us quick smart :)

Probably most of us have sped, but thats not the point. Obviously if you are doing more than a few klm over you know you are speeding. Don't complain if you get caught after a decision you made. This isn't a shot at anyone in this thread sicne they are copping it sweet :(

BTW the club is running a trackday at Wakefield on Monday 1 November, we are trying to organise these so our members can get it out of their system on the track :(

Oh, and if you don't to take your car on the track, hire an S2000 and thrash the fcuk out of it ;)

lol!! agree with franks!

And tosh... there is no need to get so defensive and sweary! i'm not even sure what you mean.. i wasn't directing anything at you? I don't remember most of the track day events.. didn't realise there would be so many there! Good to see! and keep it up! wakefield is a great track, and the only one i'll venture to, for the moment! I will argue about relatively inexpensive.. thats very expensive for me!

noone is saying that the best place to speed is on the road.

And thanks for clarifying what team trackday was.. cause i honestly did not know!

isnt it "opinions are like r33's - everyone has one"

:burnout:

More like opinions are like S13/14/15 - everyone had one and now they have a Skyline :D

R33's Rock anyway ! You will NEVER , EVER find two R33s that are exactly the same - I'll put my house on that one :)

    • Yeah from what i read this couple of days about BoV i thought so too that atmo BoV would be "worse" in my case. And yes i think/hope that on stock boost it should be ok. I dont want "no BoV" but that is just what i get. Will sort it this out later. I drive it kinda gently even in N/A state so you bet your *ss i will be even more carefull with turbo...and of course still having the old box(but that is getting sorted)  I thought that would be good to have at least Nistune. But i dont know what "tune" if any is there. Car(engine from that car) is running stock right now. Yeah for me i think that Nistune should be enough :-)  Oh i dont know that. And what outlet you mean? The one that goes to the J-pipe or that "big" one that vents to the atmo? If iam understanding this right you mean that circle one? So i have "booth worlds" like blocked but vented enough?  Does this not make car/engine more confused? 😄
    • The prices I’ve heard aren’t that bad
    • Oh, I also meant to say that it is possible to use a venting BOV and restrict its outlet down so that it does vent enough to prevent the sututu, but vents slowly enough that the AFM doesn't see all the air at once and makes it easier to avoid stalling.
