where you going ? can you smuggle a monkey back?

lol... damn, i wanted a monkey too

Anyway... is your trip just to Sri lanka and back or are you cruzin round a bit?

If your going to sri lanka only i dont think you need one, im sure you'd be able to book online with several flight companies. If its to several countries then yea you probably need one.

I go to europe every few years and i use a travel agent coz i travel a bit sometimes but its a family friend who does it, so i unfortunately cant help you. :D

I'm only going to Sri Lanka, and then coming back after a month.

Are you saying I don't need a travel agent if I'm only going there and returning? Why is that? because there is no awkward travel to organise?

that depends if there are connecting flights (eg Switching planes) during transit, im not sure bout sri lanka but if you go to europe you need at least one connecting flight, thats mainly why i need a travel agent when i book.

For you i suggest an agent would be needed... i think sri lanka doesnt have any direct flights from melbourne so it would probably be too much of a pain to organise by yourself.

Yep, Melbourne -> Sydney -> Colombo

or Melbourne -> Jakkarta -> Singapore -> Colombo

thanks for the help Marty.

sure no problem, if its a single flight that gets you to the destonation i personally think its a waste of money paying for an agent (eg. Melbourne to Singapore). But when you need connecting flights thats where the agents are needed, they can check all the timetables for all the flight companies and set up connections in a jiff... worth every cent if thats the case.

I suggest checking all the franchised travel agents like Harvey World or Thomas Cook travel. They generally have good rates.

if you want any tickets in december book NOW as nearly all the flights are booked.

I am off the singapore for a few days and then lanka and then back through hong kong for a few days with some family, but tickets are filing up fast. I paid $1850 for a package deal for that trip, so its gives you an idea of prices for the airfares

Damn, I'll have to get right on it then.

I guess it's because of Christmas holidays and stuff.

Thanks Denham, how long are you in Lanka for?

around 3 week or so, then might go to maldives for a week also if i have time as its real cheap to fly there from lanka

Nice, I haven't been over there since 2001, and that wasn't really under great circumstances anyway. Should be nice to see all the family again :D

My fiancee booked our honeymoon through Flight Centre as they were the cheapest we could find. Quite helpful too. One of my fiancees good friends is a travel agent, and she couldnt get any better prices than Flight Centre...so thats who we went with.

Although we havent flown out as yet, so we could end up staying in a shed with local animals when we get to Borneo : ) But so far Flight Centre look good.

Go into any travel agent and get a price.. dont haggel or anything. Then go to another and get a price and then if it is about the same (give or take $100) say you got a quote from X down ther road for -20% she just gave you. Travel agents make nice % mark ups on the wholesale tickets they sell. If they want your business they wil take the remaining % for the sale. Shop around!

yea exactly, you'd be surprised how much some agents can make by simply connecting a few flight paths together, if i knew how to do it i probably would do the job myself for those long european flights.

But if your considering going at the end of this year u gotta book soon coz trust me, at this time of the year everything gets booked up tight. I usually get everything sorted at least 2 months in advance to prevent any complications.

you can get a return flight from melbourne to colombo right now for $1854 with a stopover in KL (I think) from Malaysian airlines. Its as cheap as they get for regular non-habib prices.

Dark u live in the west??

G and see Dave @ Western Travel at the deer park shopping centre, just outside Kmart next to the post office. He is phenominal!! He knows everything that guy!! He knows how to pull certain scams to help u out or to travel differently to make it cheaper and so on.

If he aint in see Rita shes cool also, but David is the Master!!

Then if your sceptical go across the food court to Flight Centre, and see for yourself Daves price will be cheaper if not go back to dave and he'll beat thier price. It happened to us once! Then flight centre couldnt match David back!!

    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
