LOL...looks liek someone is going to start trying with downforce and aerodynamic aids...has your car got the carbon undertrays...id be looking at those before a wing. If you seriously want a V8 Supercar wing i can get one at a good price for you.

Say good bye to your boot though...the hole you would have to drill, and without gusseting its possible the downforce will dent your bootlid:)

hmm if you are after actual downforce I'm pretty sure you are starting at the wrong end.

Surely it is more front end grip you would be looking for.....reduce understeer in medium-high speed corners....putting a wing on the back might cause downforce at the back but it will result in the front lifting, making understeer even worse :wave:

Maybe a long, flat splitter and engine undertray would be a better idea

Or are you just trying to rice it up?

Roy I thought the undertray was rear only? and they are a much better idea than a wing, far more effective :wave:

Yeah my car is SUPPOSED to have undertrays - but they'd all been smashed off (or sold off) before I got the car. And the cost of replacing them is hideous.

They are only supposed to be benificial for really high speed corners - so might be helpfull around Phillip Island.

I tried last night to get mine off, but lost a bolt in the process.

Didn't have enough light to get it off in time, but I can tell you that there are two bolts which go through the boot.

I spoke with Ground Run last night though and he got Canaried for the exposed steel as a pedestrian hazard....

Can anybody confirm that this is non RWC??

Hahaha, been there done that. I have a bolt floating round in my boot lid too. If you want a wing you can borrow mine, It'll be taken of pretty soon.

I can only see exposed steet being an issue when it's protruding from the edge of the cars, they are pretty tight when it comes to things like wings sticking out further that the gaurds but I can't see it being an issue otherwise. Meh, anodise them black :D

I dont kow for a fact, but id be wary of fiddling too much with aerodynamics. Hate to get to Phillip Island and realsie that the car isnt as balanced as before and you lose 5km/h down the straights because of drag.

So i reckon its a great idea, but be prepared to take a backwards step before going forwards thats all.

It will look tought though:thumbsup:

Snowie, I'd be cautious of relocating the wing without understanding the flow characteristics over the cabin area. It isn't as simple as just lifting it, the angle has to be adjusted as well as the semi-attached flow over the the car comes down onto the wing at a pretty extreme angle. Just lookihg at the standard one shows that the leading section would cause almost zero downforce in an undisturbed airflow. This would leave most of the work to the upper adjustable winglet. I'd suspect that most of the aftermarket mounts would change the angle of attack to compensate. While I know a lot about aerodynamics, I have a friend who is Fords top aerodynamicist so if you get me a lot of good pics I can ask her to take a look and help me with an adjustment angle. Getting the mounts machined then won't cost too much and I can suggest some stiffening solutions so the bootlid doesn't crumple.

I'd also recommend getting those undetrays, maybe in fiberglass.

Yeah I knew that the angle had to be increase. Again one of the reasons I wanted to buy a GT Wing and use the uprights rather than make something is I'm expecting that the pre-made GT-Wings already have the ideal angles for their given heights considered.

But yeah you will notice all of the replacement taller uprights for the stock R34 wing also increase the angle from what you have already stated - flat. Around Phillip Island my car felt pretty good - but around Sandown my car is a lot more taily. Understeer isn't really an issue for me. I'm hoping these new suspension adjustment with help a lot but I can't help but think a little extra rear down force wouldn't be benificial.

BTW - Geoff - you got your new wing on yet?

Originally Bass and I were just talking about some replacement wing mounts like these which are nismo mounts but for $800+ they were a bit out of reach for us.

Adz, that red R34 wing looks nutz!! I love it.. maybe bass junky can make some vertical mounts like the ones in the pic?? :rant:

BTW - Geoff - you got your new wing on yet?

It's on, went for a spin today and found I'm holding one particular corner 15kmh faster than before (wing at max AoA) but it sure sucks the power. I even slapped some ally over the gaping scorch mark but it's a bit rough. I'll start with the wing flat sunday and then increase it to compare times/speeds.

If you can decide the height you want we can nut out the AoA for that height (maybe even plage one of the tuners settings) then I know some places that do NC machining and the cost shouldn't be too high to get the mounts cut.

    • Yeah you can. Cable tie the gauge to a windscreen wiper, or run it into the car and hold it with one hand, or have the neighbour's kid run alongside and tell you what it says.
    • I've never understood why this bothers people. Surely you'd be looking at a T3 flanged Garrett style thing, rather than a TD? You're unlikely to push a +T hard enough to need that much fuel. If you're not starting with most of the things you need to do that (ie, the bloody ECU!), you're better off just going Haltech/Link. You wil hate life a lot less. No. Just no. Just turbo it as is.

But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks 
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
