Hey All,

I have a slight moral delimma. Recently I've started to become complacent in my R33 GTST. I'm not too sure what it is exactly, but after getting my car badged, somebody side swipping the rear bumper and all, my Skyline is looking a bit groggy these days.

So right now, rather than pouring in the effort in having it fixed, I'm contemplating a change into something more sedate. This is how I justify it. With all the recent bad press about the Skylines' I just fear getting harrased but either other hoons or cops. While my car only has a few minor mods. Lowered and a hks supper dragger exhaust, its not the most "bling" of cars, but it is illegal because it is too low. So its getting to a stage, where I just fear driving it. There are certain places where I don't drive, and places were I don't park. Now I shouldn't have to do that should I?

So my question is, how do I get enthusied about my car again. It has treated me really well, and love it to bits, but what can I do to spark that rush again... Help me!

Heya Scotty how ya doing?

Its true ... u really dont' appreciate the car until u drive a shitter ...

Hey scotty upgrade the car some more ... so more girls notice you :P ... u not trying hard enough :D .. get some doof doof ... get a bodykit, some mags .. :D ... then when the teeny boppers come up and start chattin with you .. you will be happy :D

Hahaha! :P

This forum is awesome. Thanks all for your feedback. Hippy how's things buddy, you'll be glad to know that the suspension set is still working a charm.

Yeah, i know what you mean about driving a piece of cr#p.... I actually came from a *ahem cough, splutter* a VL Calais. (please don't flame me!) and yeah, you just cannot compare it to a Skyline. But I guess, if I was to change it would be to move into something more sedate. I mean I was looking into an Audi A4, BMW 3 series. etc...... now once you move into those, finish wise they're much of a muchness..... Having test driven a few, sure you can't compare on power, but I guess I'm not longer the speed freak that I once was *sigh*

I guess awurth is right, just raise again, make it all nice and legal, and I shouldn't have any problems right?! Mind you I do live in Vic!

But finally for Hip, well, its got some pretty good doof in there already. The nice Alpine CDA 7998 works quite nicely. As for its pulling power, perhaps a new set of mags is the answer...... not sure I want to target the teeny boppers tho... :D

Keep the comments coming. This is great, and gets me out of work!

i also contemplated selling my line a while ago because i was bored of it but decided not simply because i knew for certain that i would loss money selling it - depreciation. So instead i decided to mod to see if more hosepower would cure my bordem and it did exactly that, it made me want to drive it whenever i sat in it. At the end of the day it is your decision as to whether you to keep it or have a change besides you do live in vic which is a b*tch of a state to live in in regards to owning imports although Adelaide is not far behind.

Scotty this will work i am sure! all you have to do is run down to the local performance shop and pour $7,000 into it with a new turbo kit and all the rest and trust me you will be smiling! My mate just finished up with his and all he does is drive it day in day out!

Buy a daily, some stocker bucket of crap, trust me you learnt to appreciate your skyline everytime you get into it again!!

Yep - Boof hit the nail on the head.

Get yourself a real cheap bunky that you can leave at the pub car park on a Friday night without worrying about getting damaged. Make sure it's good on fuel and only get third party insurance for it. If you do a lot of peak hour traffic time to/from work, so much the better if it's an auto.

This will also let you do servicing/repairs/mods yourself as you won't be stranded for transport if you don't get it finished on time. The extra car may actually SAVE you money if you take into account fuel and servicing costs on the 'line.

If your bored with your GTST then that means its time for a GTR :aroused:

being serious now if your car is way too low then i concur that it should be raised to a neater looking lower than stock position as i think the stock height is a little to high.

and yes spend a little on some mods as if all you have is an exhuast then there is so much potental to unlock. And, then put some nice wheels on your baby and then ring up a girl and say,

You: "hey baby hows about i take you out to dinner tonight, ill pick you up in my skyline"

Her: "ooo, a skyline"

You: "yeah baby, i fixed her up just for you"

then its :inlove:

:( Fly_With_Sky...so does that work for you?? :D

scotty, as the others have said...drive a shitter!! i sometimes get bored with my car too cos it's pretty stock and boring...but then i go away and hire an auto pulsar or something and I'm sooo happy when i come back home and go for a drive :D

blah blah blah -" im bored of my skyline "- blah blah blah.

Ur driving one of the best cars in the world - only a small percentage of the population are privilaged enough to experience this and ur whinging about being bored!!

some people take the best things for granted.

There are s**tloads of people that would love to own a skyline?

Its taken me 10 years to be able to afford my skyline - I worked my ass off to get it and I am still working my ass off to modify it and I love it to death.

You wont hear me biatching about it.

" I own a skyline and Im bored" - LMAO!!!!!!!!

If ur so bored why dont u ask mummy or daddy to buy you a ferari or lotus or some s**t!!

Take up bingo, get lowered door handles and eat curry - that'd spice up ur life!!

:( Fly_With_Sky...so does that work for you?? :D

scotty, as the others have said...drive a shitter!! i sometimes get bored with my car too cos it's pretty stock and boring...but then i go away and hire an auto pulsar or something and I'm sooo happy when i come back home and go for a drive :D

if the hire car was manual, i would be pretty excited to drive that too if you know what i mean :D

you shoudl be happy you own a skyline, not distraught about the issue; like others have said, get a daily bomb(like a old VL/VK and put a "Commonhore" sticker on it for the fun of it) and drive that.. drive your skyline on the weekends and stuff... problem solved...

-JL

Fly_With_Sky, you're a phucken legend! :( Ooo, a skyline.... I live for those words from a chick! hahaha

I guess more mods is the answer.... I guess I only ask cos, the company can offer me a novated lease, which I am contemplating.....

But yes, I know its arrogant to say I'm bored of such an awesome car. I don't mean to come off that way, but for the record, no I don't have the luxury of mummy and daddy funding my skyline, it was bought through whoring myself as a waiter for several years. So yeah, I earnt mine.

Hmm, but I guess my argument is that I hate getting harrased by other hoons, and cops. I just don't need the aggravation. I mean, I will not drive done chappel, lygon, and a few other places........ Just paranoid about other phcuks ruining my car. But yep, just raise it, and no problems right?! right???

Oh wel, what mods?!! Let the flood gates open! :(

my apologies scotty - I shouldnt have been so judgemental.

dont let the stoopid ones get to you - they are only jealous that you have such a kick-ass machine. As for cops- they are afraid of you - that you will make em look bad in their s**tboxes!!!

Mod it up!!

-power fc

-pod filter

-turbo

-front mount

-brakes and suspension

-etc...etc...etc

go and win urself some trophies - something to show da grankiddies!!

    • Hey everyone, I recently bought myself a 2001 Nissan Stegea M35, and I've had a few issues that I had to fix, my car would start intermittently and I had a bad rocker cover leak, after a couple days of looking I finally found a part number that interchanges with the OEM starter as the OEM starters at $1300 and I can't afford that, this starter was only $270 and I replaced the start and still had the same issues, I posted a video asking for help online and it went very well, some guy said it was probably a bad ignition switch so I took my dash apart and turns out my ignition switch was half screwed in and was loose, once it was tightened it fired right up, I found a local place called "Boost factory" and they sold me a part of OEM Nissan rocker covers, they were $600 which was a shocker but I couldn't find them anywhere else, so I installed them and fixed my oil leak as the old rocker cover was cracked and warped, I now need to replace my boost air inlet hoses as they have some cracks.
    • I am being real ocd and do not want to make amy mistakes so appreciate all help provided. I am overly cautious so asking for opinion even if i know the answer   few questions,   1.re tensioner, should spring be greased lightly?    2.tensioner has two washers , one pressure washer and other has recessed/ seat. I am going to put the recessed one facing tensioner where edges are cut out and pressure washer on top   3. my car has custom triger kit sold few years ago by guy who initially built the engine. I moved the crank gear and it moved in and out easy, only way to remove belt is to slide the crankshaft gear forward which I did. I have seen these being very tough to move , anything to do with my woodruff key?   it has a crank sensor shown in purple which I assume reads from the 12 teeth position mounted to the crankcase gear   4. timing belt doesn’t have arrow stating front or back just a arrow which I think is direction of rotation . Do you agree?   5.i figured out why my crankcase cover was worn as there was no washer installed over the crankcase cover before the harmonic balancer was put in place. It is missing, anyone knows the part number? It looks like this https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-crankshaft-timing-gear-rear-plate-washer-nissan-s13-ca18-a31-r32-rb20-r33-r34-c33-c34-c35-rb25?currency=USD   https://tinypic.host/image/IMG-4535.382Zy2 https://tinypic.host/image/IMG-4537.382dSz https://tinypic.host/image/IMG-4534.382q4U
    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
