Hey y'all

bought myself a BATMBL 3" front/dump pipe and 3" Hi-flow CAT, so now i need a 3" CATBACK exhaust to complete the system :)

Looking at Apexi N1 or Blitz Nur spec exhausts, but can find f*ck all pictures of them on cars, not catalogue type pics. I searched all 20 pages of "apexi" thread titles, and "blitz" thread titles, and found NO pics of either exhausts on a car.

Prefer pics of these exhausts on a R34 but i guess any car/skyline really.

The other thing, does it really matter what 3" catback i get? It's basically a hollow piece of steel? Or is that simplifying things too much?

These 2 seem to sit nice and parallel to the ground and don't stick out from the rear bar (i don't want all that funky angled shit). If anyone else knows other types of exhausts that are similar shapes, i'm all ears.

cheers,

daniel.

Apexi N1 is an angled exhaust (hence the N1 designation).

I recently invested in a Trust Power Extreme II. It is also N1 style but i have found it grows on you, plus in reality the angled ones do flow better because there is not a big 90 degree bend just before the muffler.

I bought it at Advan performance in NSW who are actually a great bunch of guys and stuck the exhaust on while I waited for only $35. Even though it's a direct bolt on - the effort saved by using their hoist to undo the carbon fibre under tray and shit is totally worth $35.

Anyway these guys import trust gear into Australia and would ship it interstate - they always have Trust exhausts in stock too.

Another reason they are angled - a lowered car will scrape the muffler of a straight-out tipped exhaust because the 'departure angle' is too shallow...

If you angle them up they give better ground clearance and the tip is less likely to be destroyed

thanks for the pics everyone, and yeah, Chris and especially CNBLOW, pics would be awesome!!

I know it would be better to have a straight as pipe possible, but i figure i won't really be able to tell a difference, so i want to go with something that i like the look of (not what the Japanese are doing  )

Blitz: it's not exactly straight, but i like the look of your exhaust. Do you mind if i ask how much?

Sewid: i ain't joining no dark side if it means i'm going to be unhappy with the way something looks on my car  You got any pics or urs?

cheers guys

I just went downstairs to take some pics.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHA @ the ruler pic! ;)

A little too much parallax error there for me to tell, but it certainly ain't 22.75cm's is it! more like 12'ish

Car looks phat sewid. Does ur exhaust trumpet out a bit??

Hey Brendan, do you have any pics mate??

cheers

haha yeah it's hard to use a ruler to take a good measuremeant of that while taking a photo. But i'd say 12 - 14cm high.

I don't exactly know what you mean but the exhaust doesn't stick out far at all. It ends almost exactly where the stock exhaust ended. Also it's not very loud at idle but when you hit 4 or 5 grand it starts to really growl so its excellent for putting around town and not getting noticed by cops.

sorry, wasn't very clear. I mean the tip bit, trumpet out, as in, diameter gets wider just for the tip bit? Probably just the angle it was taken on.

Is it much different to an Apexi N1 shape?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
