R33 gts-t or 180sx or wrx?

Hi people, I am having some real issues trying to decide what car to go for.

I mean i can get a good clean skyline for 20K

or a modded up 180sx for less than 20 k

or a semi modded up wrx for just over 20 k

anyone got any suggestions ??

Such a hard decision to make when u are spending so much money!

Man there are so many R33's out there they are becoming almost 'common'

Go the R32 GTST or 180sx with the s15 front. Be a little different!!

Good examples of R32's are going for 18k and under! this leaves plenty of change out of 20K to put in the bank or re-invest in mods!

Alternatively try and seek a 1996 180sx with the skyline-esque rear end!!! HOT:eek: even better, put an s15 front on that!!!

Come to think about it, all these cars are common. R32 Gtst isn't that common.... I think.

If you want to be a apart of the crowd, any of these cars will do. But with the WRX people also think your a ram raider.

thanks for the advice guys,

see there you go an australian 200sx might not go too bad either ...

the comment about the wrx being a ram raider sounds fair too, seems to me that people are very ignorant and for people that don't know much about cars they just automatically bag drivers of cars such as wrx's etc

tools..

anyway i'll keep thinking about it

I am leaning towards a 180 but one thing is for sure is it me or is there not many for sale at the moment ? I read the forums and i see a few people wanting them but none for sale ?

dude, i had exactly your problem.

When you got the cash, what to get!!?

i considered 180's, 32's, 33's mainly.

I looked at a few 180's, but dude, you just dont get the same interior quality that you get with a skyline. And your just paying extra for what is essentially silvia with different panels. (no offence to s13 drivers, as i like these cars! but anyway, this is SKYLINES AU!!)

between 32's and 33's, the 33 is a generation ahead and the interior shows it, being much larger and newer.

In the engine department, you cant go wrong with 32 or 33. The RB motors are so sweet! and i reckon they are far more satisfying to wind out than the rougher sounding SR20. However, you really have to drive each model, as there is a big difference in off boost drivability between 32 and 33's. On the 32 plus side, you can reprogram the factory ECU for a cheap tuning alternative.

Exterior is simply a matter of personal choice. All skylines look great. Dont worry about being common, as 180's are flooding in now that they are in demand. Imports are all gonna be common as they are so popular! And as V-meister said, they are still an icon!

If your concerned with the shape of the 33 (some think they are too bulky) do what i did, and park a 32 and 33 one in front of the other, and check out their profiles, youll be surprised at how similar they are in size physically.. Its just the 32's more angular lines make it look smaller.

I ended up going the 33, and have never looked back. Considering that there isnt much separating 32/33 in price these days, i would go the newer car.

Just my opinion, hope this helps.

Iv owned 2 r33gtst and 1 200sx my mates all have 180s and my cuz's have 2 rezy's

personally i would choose the 180sx

R33 gtst, Big car, drinks alot of petrol but then depends on how you drive but drinks alot of petrol still :(

200sx was a fav. its a awesome nimble handling car, lighter than the r33 and i found it so much fun to drive i loved it.

180sx as above but faster :) hahaha, (im trying to sell my Sky to get one)

Wrx <-- awesome handling car, and i mean AWESOME but the fact that it has a weak ass gear box really really deters me....

my 2c

No offenese to any Nissan or Sub owners here: (My 2c OK - since the question was asked)

Skylines are for the more mature performance enthusiasts who seeks style, luxury & performance of a proven Bathurst winning design. (albeit a 32 GTR winning Bathurst and that is not on your list)

180s and Silvias are for the youger generation who enjoy performance and drifting without spending a lot of bucks.

WRXs are for the hoon with a family.

PS - I'm not biased.....:(:):(

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
