PowerFC ECUs w/ Hand Controllers (NEW & under $1000!)

Recommended Posts

Again, at this stage, no PFC Pros. Brent said all PFCs except AP Engineering units, and as I said above, I think the Pros are made by AP.

I will double check this later, but for now assume no. You could of course go for a standard model though (how often are you sending the WRX down the strip?)

meh, shame that.. seems alot safer in the drag spec with the difference in rev limiting.. why run the engine lean when limiting them

i'll still take a std one.

hey i am very interested, when is the closing date? and wat is the method of payment and shipping? (like how long would it take to ship)

Closing: Brent said one week yesterday, so that would make the closing date 23 November.

Method of payment: payment will be made directly to Nengun. You can find their payment details here: http://www.nengun.com/conditions.php

Shipping will be to your door, by EMS.

Date of delivery will depend on how long it takes for all payments to go through, for Nengun to acquire stock from the distributor, and then to send it on (not to mention any delays thanks to heavier christmas post). Most people seem to recieve their PFCs from nengun within two working weeks, so my guesstimate would be about the same ie. 10 working days, but I can't guarantee that.

I wouldn't bother with an AVC-R either, I'd do the same as you PowerFC, but just not sure if i can justify it. I'd like the hand controler so i can limit rpm to say 3000rpm when leaving it at a workshop or somthing like that etc... and I'd may get a fatter power curve or something, but my AFR are pretty good with the standard ECU (its chipped by some company i've never heard of) So not sure if its worth me wasting my money on it.

Ferni, the biggest advantage of a PowerFC for your car in it's current form will be fine tuning, not necessarily for huge performance gains, but just having the ability to fine tune every aspect of your engine management - better than your stock ECU can. The added advantage of buying one now for such a low price is, if you plan on more power mods later down the track, your PowerFC will become very useful. IMO a wise investment, you can always swap back in your stock ECU if/when you sell the car.

:)

dam!! - i just got a PFC from nengun about a week ago - it took about 10 days to arrive - didnt get hit up for gst or duties - total cost = $1100 delivered.

IMO Still a good deal - V. happy :)

I'm rather interested for a S1 R33 GTS-t (RB25DET) version.

I still got Nengun's detail from my previous fmic order so if is it ok for me to transfer to him directly or should the fund go through you first then go to nengun as a whole payment lot?

They are listed on AP's site, not Apexi's:

Hmmm... The boxes my unit came in has no reference to AP Engineering.

Power FC : 414-N001

Commander : 415-N001

Regardless, it's a damn good deal, good luck.

You'd think so, but I bought something from OS (a power FC actually) and got the dude to write the tarrif exemption code on it, it was held by customs. I had to pay GST, but not duty (as per the duty exemption). Funky, you may know more than me, and if you have documentation to prove it I'd love for you to give it to me so I can try and get that GST back :)

Richard

well no I don't have any conclusive proof of this, but as nengun isn't a registered business in australia (or is he) his services and products should be exempt from tax. That's from my understanding of how GST works. And the only way that you should be charged a GST if you were charged a fee by a local institution, like customs, so you pay GST on your customs duty.

I dunno, anyways, less off topic on this thread, if we need to discuss tax issues, then we can create another thread.

Thanks, thats what i thought, but if i buy now, i'm going to have to spend $500 bucks to get it tuned, then when/if i buy a new turbo/injectors i'll have to spend another $500 to get it re-tuned... total cost 2k

If i buy one when/if i upgrade turbo/injectors, say it costs me 1100 for the PFC/HC 500 for tune, total cost 1600...

It's your call if you get it tuned straight away, the PowerFC has a basic default config. that works ok for basic/mild mods.. so you could just plug it in and it should run fine as-is, then when you get your power mods, you will need to have it tuned properly to get your car running at it's optimum.

kasanoff / ECL27: Your added.

P1E: Yes, we are getting close. The important thing is that we will need everyone to actually go ahead with the purchase. Heres hoping people don't pull out.

rs73: When we get to 20 people, I will send a confirmation PM out to check that everyone will be going ahead. If we still have 20, then I will contact Brent regarding payment. At this stage do not transfer funds to him: a) we don't know if we will make the 20, and B) Brent isn't expecting payment yet so it would get terribly confusing.

I haven't put you down for one yet. Let me know if I should.

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
