WOW!!

yea i go with you guys...

Yes, you do have to Polish you baby, and all the other shit... but thats part of having a skyline and lovin it... Ive been asked heaps to take peeps to formals, but as i have lost my licence it aint a goos idea... BUt id love to, just to be able to polish up mah beast and to show her off. Fine if they offer thats nice of them, but i aint gonna charge for it.

Were doing them a fav by taking them, But there doin us a fav of inviting us into there formal line up car thing.... :S

Tis all for fun.

Well WetYet has not been back on here to check the post, by the looks of things.

Maybee he's not happy with our responses. As they say a happy person may tell a freind or two an unhappy person will tell ten freinds.

Thanx for your offer sinista.

And i completely understand where u guys are coming from about getting tired etc.

Same thing over and over again and im not sure about most people that u guys take, but i would seriously appreciate the ride there. Just as i would expect u guys would appreciate being asked..........its a compliment isnt it? hey dude! ur car is hot can u take me? hahaha

But anyway sorry for such a late reply.

we know our cars are hot tho

hehe jokes so which car did u end up choosing?

When you drive a car that is in mint condition and that you really appreciate, you will understand why people charge. Those of us who really appreciate them will know that there are skylines and there are SKYLINES. All of the runs I have done 7 last year 4 so far this year have been word of mouth or they have approached me while in my car. I dont need to line up at a formal of someone I dont know just so people can see my car. It's a great feeling when everyone is WOW (ing) over your car and taking pictures but running my car isnt cheap, thats all im saying. Im a big fan on keeping low ORIGINAL kms on my car,. Tyres cost approx 900 a piece my clutch just cost me 5k last week, insurance, repairs ect. People dont need to say YES to the price but i also take them to the after party. All i know is that when I was in school i would have prefered to spend my $100 on a GTR rather than a LIMO......

well i will politely say i disagree, your tyres arent getitng hurt driving accross town, unless your strapping it your clutch will be fine, and although i like trying to keep my kms low, who cares? its there to be driven, it serves no other purpose than to take you places, so keeping the kms low defeats the purpose of owning such a sweet car. and all of my formals have been word of mouth also, doesnt mean my car is amazing or anything, friends have just mentioned to other people its a nice car and would be great for a formal, but i dont get what you mean about there are skylines and there are SKYLINES? if your talking like that then i still beg to differ, unless its modded of its brain, then its nothing really special over anything else. take leeches R33 for example, not many mods at all (currently) but clean as all hell and obviously a very nice example of an immaculate skyline, does it make his car any less worthy than Gorans beautifull gtr?

i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, but one of the nicest feelings ive had lately is from one guy i took to a formal, he's still saying how much he appreciated me taking him for only a couple of dollars and how much he loved my car, cause he's a young guy with not much cash that was just thrilled someone would take him and hardly charge a cent.(and i wouldnt have charged at all if i wasnt so damn poor lol) to me my car needs a lot of improvement and mods etc and in general im not happy with it, but he was thrilled with it, and that made me happy.

and im sure your car costs alot to maintain (all skylines do) but it wouldnt cost a hell of a lot more than what mine has cost me in repairs and maintenance this year, though i would guess you are earning a hell of a lot more than i am.

thats enough from me for now, no disrespect meant, just getting my side of the story accross.

Hi MickGTR - I hear what your saying and agree with your motivations. If she's in mint, and you wish to keep it as original as you can and occasionsly enjoy it, great. Yes, It takes money and if you decide to charge Car Hire rates, good. A smart thing for you to do. (Can you get us all a few gigs at those rates :( )

My GTR has mods and I use it as a daily driver at the moment. Obviously suffer more wear and tear through use than yours. Therefor running costs will be larger and over time and my SKYLINE worse off if I dont spend more maintaing it..

However, I really do appreciate my SKYLINE and certain everyone else on this forum also appreciates theirs.

There's different motivations and affordabilty at play. It's an individuals choice.

PS. I'd like one of several Modified R32 GTR's never driven which are parked in the open behind factory in Japan (under tarp - moulding over). Now theyre worth a mint.

take leeches R33 for example, not many mods at all (currently) but clean as all hell and obviously a very nice example of an immaculate skyline, does it make his car any less worthy than Gorans beautifull gtr?

hey i got a mention woot :)

yea its a clean car except one small dint that popped up :( not happy jan but anyways i can definatly see where mick is coming from i love my car yes its a stocker but i still love it but i agree i try and keep the km's down which is probably stupid and everyone tells me i am to anal about my car but i agree re-sale value on the cars go heaps down hill when they get to the 100K mark so i figure the less i drive it from a - b eg work the more fun i can have on the weekend and if anyone wanted formal runs

so in conclusion i have no idea what i have said except i like my car. I think if you do charge though no more than $50 would be acceptable but hey its micks car he can charge what he likes and from what i have heard its a smick piece of metal :(

    • Yea that's a fair assumption. I'm presuming they call them solid lifters as they have no moving parts like hydro lifters.
    • I believe you're confusing WMI with water injection. Looking at that graph, the 93aki+WMI car is making more power than C16 race gas. Boost juice, which is what I also run, is Snow Performances 50/50 premix.
    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
