This is all too easy, and way too much fun these days.

Just got back from Winton Raceway, only did two sessions so about 10 laps...but at 18psi and 8,000rpm rev limit (shifting around 7,000-7,5000rpm) the engine ran well:)

Do have a problme though, my piping has a boost leak somehwere that meant i wasnt able to continue after the second session:(

  • 4 weeks later...

I had to dig up this old post........gotta love it.

This is what was pushed out of my rb20det.....with 2530 and rest to support 200rwkw. It isnt quite what roy has, i wish. ;)

Could someone also tell me how to convert kph to rpm on the graph....i saw a post once explaining the formula.....but i cant find it. :)

Hey, that looks nice and punchy, :)

What bosot is it running? Im off to Eastern Creek today so should have a tale to tll tonight:)

Cool, email me at [email protected] and ill send over a spreadsheet, either that or tell me the tyre you are running and brand, as you need th etyre circumference to work it out...its pretty easy to do:)

sure no worries

turbo = 2530

booost = spikes to 18 then tapers off to 16psi

ecu = power fc

gtr pump

gtr injectors

cam gears

front mount cooler

blitz ebc

i dont like running that much boost on the road.

i wish i could have full boost by 3500rpm....make it even better.....maybe i'm asking too much :rofl:

u mind if i ask who tuned your car... ill be putting in pfc pretty soon looking for a tuner for my 32

going by the dyno sheet, Croydon Racing Developments..... :P

Good power, seems a bit like mine up top, drops boost and power just after 6000, although mine drops of a bit more than that

Looking at that result i say the 2530 has to be one of the best bolt on options with the RB20, perhaps the 2535 will make a bit more power...but who knows for sure.

One thing that seems evident is that a good manifold and a good external wastegate seems to help the things make power. My turbo seems line ball with the 2530 down low but makes a bit more up top...but you have to question the value, the wastegate and manifold alone are worth what the 2530 goes for...then you have to buy the turbo and plenty more in the way of lines and piping:( So is the extra 15-20rwkws worth the expense???? If i want to run 20psi and make the power then its handy but 18psi day to day is enough for the dry

The 2530 seems to be the go, but interesting that boost even falls over at high revs on the RB20:confused:

What brand / size exhaust and cat are you running?

Oh on another note on my old girl, the only drama after 6 x 20min sessions in the wet at Eastern Creek was a tired alternator about 15mins into the last session, where voltage dropped to the point where i got a misfire and steering went heavy. Another alternator in and she is good to go:)

So that just about 120min of spinning around on a wet track with either 12 or 15psi, i cant remember what the low boost setting is...lol i need to get my boost gauge working....and not a drama:)

The catch can is still empty with only a bit of mist on the hose walls :D

Looking at the latest dyno sheet for mine, I have approx 600rpm more lag than the 2530 (running 1bar) but power doesnt drop of untill around 7000rpm. Thats with std manifold modded to accept the external gate. Waiting on a stiffer gate spring so we can wind up the boost and give it a proper tune (hopefully the stiffer spring and tuning will reduce the lag slightly).

    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
