Max power on mine is made at around 6,000rpm and rev limiter is set at 7,000rpm. Power doesnt dive it just slowly tapers down.

I agree with Roy about wringing the first two gears a bit more but my car is all over the shop in first and second and I always am bouncing off the limiter unintentionally.

I need to improve my driving skills/suspension/tyres before I will bump it higher.

post-7066-1142056038.jpgOk after a long wait car is finally up and running again although still with restriction issues will post the graph and maybe get a bit of a disscussion going on possible causes tuner is still leaning towards exhaust as it is pretty quiet the other is inlet track somewhere anyway u will see by the power curve that there is a problem I just gotta find the damn thing

cheers Peter

Thought about doing trhat but it wouldn't have told me anything as anyone that drops there exhaust will make more power wheather the exhaust was restrictive or not but thanks for the suggestion

I wouldn't be complaining with that power level anyway. :/

Can you remind us what kind of turbo you have and bottom end?

Those are some mighty high intake temps! where do they stick the sensor?

It will make more power without the exhaust as any car will any exhaust is a restriction we did try this and it made a heap more power but that was when I was maken 238rwkw since the engine will flow exhaust gases faster with no exhaust air into and out the engine it not pinpointing where the flow hold up is but i think a newer exhaust has to be the first step as the intake side of things is suppose to be good for 450 hp well thats how it was explained to me

Interlooper the bottom end is stock engine has only done around the 65000ks mark as ive had the haed of for porting bores looked brand new so it was left alone turbo is a garrett GT3040R

update

from information gained it appears 3" exhaust will not flow fast enough above 250rwkw so just bought a 3.5" cat back exhaust will fit that and then try tuning again c if that fixes the problem

Cheers Peter

what brand exhaust did you buy? or is it a custom one?

ok the engine is nearly done, it might be in on saturday morning, i have come accross a problem, i have one washer left over, i think its from the bottom end, its a silver washer with a tapered edge, its about 15mm across.

anyone got an idea where its from.

well its nearly all done, just a few more bits, this is the engine that i hope to crack 300RWKW+ with. will it happen, u bet it will. its taken so long and its only a week or so away from dyno run in and full power tune.

well here it is, the engine ive been building, this is the one i hope to crack 300RWKW+ with, its been so long and now its only a week or so away from the dyno run in and full power tune.

Yo everyone, just wondering if any of the RB20 owners with over 240rwkw have had engine failures or mechanical troubles when used in a circuit/drift enviroment? reason i ask is my rb20 just made 258rwkw @18psi (mods are listed here:) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...ic=103095&st=20 but the tuner recommended i only run with around 1 bar not because the tune wasnt safe, (it was detonation free at 18psi) but because the sheer mechanical strength of the motor could not take that sort of power continuously ie lots of revlimiter action in drift. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, especially from roy & other RB20 heros who use there cars in circiut or drift where are they are given a pounding.

Cheers.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
